Dunno why you would expect this to make CNNs National News, but it sounds like the suspect got what he deserved....in the end.

I know several friends who don't carry when they're off duty because they "don't want to bring the job home".

    Never did get this theory.

At least when I am at work, I've got a radio and a back up unit.

    Great situational awareness sir!

    Good job Officer.

Twit picked the wrong man to play games with and learned how stupid prizes really can feel.

Not that it especially matters but I would be slightly curious as to the subjects' backgounds and statements. My guess is there would some fairly serious stupidity there.

I possibly could have phrased that slightly better. I am vaguely curious as to which specific type of stupidity.

Not quite, but almost, call it borderline, terminal stupidity?

    Great situational awareness!

Four guys in the car following the cop? I'm thinking they were going to do a home invasion/assassination of the cop's home/family. Is the "gentleman" in the linked photo a fair representation of the guys in the car?

Need to have a second job? Further proof that LE as a profession needs to get paid better.

Something tells me that there's more to this story than what's being reported.
    Not buying it.

I have an acquaintance who is married to a deputy sheriff. He has a stalker. This dbag follows his cruiser around, and when he does a traffic stop jumps out and starts yelling about pigs harassing innocent people. So far it hasn't progressed beyond that. It's apparently been going on for some time.

Try that were I am and the first time he would be arrested for interfering with the police, at the least!

It seems like for every one cop who shoots some unarmed POS in the back, there are 20 who handle those types extremely well.

"According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 11:30 p.m. when the 34-year veteran officer was heading home in his personal vehicle"

    Ugghh.
