I've been known to stick this 45ACP Bond Arms Derringer in my pocket, but not often.

It's actually not a bad shooting gun.

My Wife's carry gun was the Makarov.
I like them and have accumulated a few, including 22LR, .380 and many 9x18.

What kind of ammo do you carry in 9x18?

I haven't bought any, or reloaded any 9x18 in years (I have thousands of rounds).

The factory carry ammo includes 120gr JHP Russian Silver Bear,
    95gr JHP Russian Barnaul,
    and 90gr JHP Fiocchi,
    etc.

The 120gr Silver Bear is pretty hot but is unreliable feeding, because (I think) the Russians rushed the manufacture of the heavy, hot load in to production for the America market.
I found that resizing, shortening the length of the round a little made the round reliable.

Speer, Hornady and Sierra are all good JHP bullets for the Makarov JHP handholds.

I know most 380 JHP fails to make the FBI 12in minimum in ballistics gel. Is this also the case with 9x18 or does the increased velocity get it past the threshold?

And how many black powder weapons are "out there" that would be "put into action" if it was even possible to dry up all modern weapons, and they for sure would.be used to procure a modern firearm.

And then, how many black powder revolvers will be rechambered for cartridges?

(Anti gun lunacy just never ends. Great guns. Not "hijacking" thread, just a passing thot.)

Frankly I don't pay much attention to such stuff.

The Russians, Chinese, Germans, etc used the Makarov for many years. If it was good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

If a guy is still standing after I put a couple 9x18 JHP bullets in his chest, I'll buy him a Beer. :)

There was one thing I had to do to the Maks to make them feed some JHP ammo.
The sharp edge of the large hollow cavity would catch/jam on the bottom of the feed ramp.
The feed ramp had not been designed to feed HP ammo.
So I just "extended" the bottom of the feed ramp a little.

I bought this Mak from a Gun dealer, at a gun show. He had the gun refinished. I'm not big on Chrome guns but I thought this looked pretty good.
He had not fired it, and neither have I.

That's a nice looking Makarov! Remeber when they were sub $200.00 for new East German's with two magazines and a holster?

They were so inexpensive, that at the gun shows if I had any money left I would buy another Makarov.
I remember when I showed my Wife what I had bought at the show, including another Makarov.

    She asked,
"Why I wanted SIX Makarovs?" :)

The thing was back then, most everyone that shot the Mak wanted one.
About as fast as I'd buy a couple spares I would have to sell them.

    The .380 is cool.

Years ago, for a short while a Bulgarian 22 conversion was available.
It's very nicely made, but was expensive and it looks like the magazines were pounded out of old car sheet metal.

This one's much better than the one's I saw listed. They had a muzzle device that looked at least twice the size of that one and had a curious design like a Honey dipper. They sold 500 real quick and disappeared. They were all the rage until a couple of weeks after the last two hundred were delivered. There a couple of "Mine works great" and "Magazines need tweaking" then no one mentioned them again. They looked nothing like yours. They were from (So they said) Bulgaria also. IMG_0413.JPG

I love carrying my CZ82. I have an IWB holster for it and several spare magazines. I shoot really well with it, like it reads my mind. Really smooth action. Also, Hornady Critical Defense ammo works just fine in it.

I have a Ruger SpeedSix .357 I’ve carried, but it is a heavy beast, even if it only has a 2.5 in barrel. Uncomfortable as it is, you almost have to carry it SOB to keep your balance.
