What does your CT Permit say?
I'd like to use a samll solar panel to trickle charge the battery in our Cessna 172M.

    Problem:
The cigarette lighter socket is DEAD unless the MASTER IS ON. Thus preventing the solar panel from charging the battery.

Any ideas for getting around this problem?

    Thank you.

Go to Radio Shack and buy a female 12V lighter socket, a ten-foot length of electrical cord, and a pair of alligator clips. Solder and tape the components, plug the charger into the socket, and connect the clips to your battery. (Ensure you maintain the correct polarity.) Total cost will probably be under $15.00.

And the STC cost will be $15,000 and take 3 years to get approved!
