    If I am not mistaken, a Civil Affairs position in the Army often requires TS clearance. I guess the investigaters failed to uncover his Dad's membership in the Chinese government.

    You are correct, death is a penalty for espionage. "shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of years or for life." 18 USC § 794.

    Spied on people in the country that took him in after he was allegedly tortured by China? Was probably a setup to get him in to be a mole the whole time. Try him and if found guilty, execute him for treason.

    Probably either goes to community meetings all day or deals with problem areas without having to shag calls for service. Not a bad gig if you are over shagging calls for service all day and you don't want to be a detective.
