Dumbasses...even if the guy couldn't provide documentation right there on the spot, they should have made some phone-calls before hauling him in.
I guess they don't believe the truth when they hear it.
Who would they call?
Should the SEAL get a pass, just because he's a in the military, for the illegal weapons in NYC or should he face the same penalties as the others who've been busted for the same thing recently?
Got his phone number?
I would assume whatever person he told them to.
Do we know:
He provide a name/number to call.
That if he did provide one, they did not call.
It's a possibility that he didn't provide one, but I'm guessing he probably did at least give that much before being hauled off.
Why would you think that?
Maybe add after running a red light to the title also? They didn't just throw him into a psych ward just for claiming he was a seal. The title is a bit misleading.
From the sounds of it there was more to the committal than him claiming to be a SEAL...
...plus handgun with 3 full magazines of ammo.... AND rambling and acting incoherently.
How much so..........
........well, the Navy came and took him into their custody where THEY are treating him for PTSD...
Navy SEALs get to carry guns in NYC?
Agree on theebadone added but that red light car stop opened up the can of worms. I hope seal day gets the help he needs and deserves.
Amen. He deserves the best treatment, and aftercare we have available.
I guess not (referring to a couple of posts above, asking if SEALs can carry in NYC)
Sure if they wanted to, along with anyone else with a gun. Just don't get caught. At any given time, just think how many folks have guns in nyc but no nyc ccw permit. A car stop, trying to pass through wtc security or jfk security, a hotel maid calling the cops, these are some ways to get caught and thrown into the death pit of nyc gun laws.
They didnt mention if the possible PTSD they are talking about is the one associated with being arrested in NY, thrown in the psych ward and being told repeatedly he wasnt who he said he was.
Im sorry; I know its no laughing matter. I just couldnt resist. :embarassed:
