I have to admit I can't come up with a logical reason for buying this gun, except I like it.

As has happened in the past I was at the gun store Thursday when the gun was delivered.
Right away I liked the short, Black mean look of the gun.

I have a number of short barrel, hi cap, 12 ga pump shotguns, so a two shooter isn't an improvement on the defense guns I already have.
Another reason for not buying the gun is it was $479 OTD. You can buy a nice 8 shot 12 ga for less.

Although I like double barrel shotguns I have only owned one. Years ago I had a short barrel side by side 12 ga that I gave to a friend's wife for a HD gun. One night she actually used the gun to chase away a guy that was at the window.

Well, I held out for one day. Then Friday I took a spare Streamlight TR-2 laser/light and a BSA Red Dot sight to the gun store and put them on the gun. That did it. Even though I can't shoot the gun for probably a couple months (shoulders injured) I wanted it.

Saturday when three ladies came to my place to shoot I asked for volunteers to shoot the Maverick (and my new S&W Shield).
Two women shot some #8 and 00 Buckshot. They were all smiles.
The gun does indeed look mean in action.:)
The Red Dot sight assured immediate centered hits for the ladies and I'm sure the laser/light will center the 00 buck on target in the dark.

Hopefully you will heal quicker than you are planning on.

I hadn't thought about it until you asked.
I just tried it. It's not bad, just slightly high.
I have Red Dots on a couple other shotguns and rifles, so maybe I'm just use to them.

That Red Dot is a new 20mm. Small and not too high. I like them so well I bought about a dozen and several for friends.

    Thanks.
I tore my left shoulder in 1995, so I know it takes months to make any progress and the shoulder hurts all the time.
My left shoulder was operated on Oct 10 and I still can't hold a pistol much more than belt high and I can't take the recoil of anyhing but a 22.
My right shoulder was operated on Jan 3 and I'm hard pressed to hold a cup of Coffee.

A lady (world champion quarter horse rider) is coming out to shoot tomorrow.
It's a drag my just being the magazine loader.

But at my age, 75, the damage could have been a lot worse, so I'm not complaining.
    Not shooting stinks though.

Funny thing is, because I can't comb my hair I've been getting it cut in a short flat top.
Now I wear a hat all the time because I look like a real dork.

It's about the same as a double barrel derringer.......cool, but you'll never choose it for a self defensive gun. So, why would you buy it? I bought an O/U derringer for the same reason you bought that......

I had to go to Casper last month and stop in a local gun shop. There on the wall was the same thing. The more I played with the more a talked myself in buying it. Mine doesn't have the bottom rail.

You will need to heal up first before you shoot it. I couldn't wait till Spring so went and shoot mine with an assortment ranging from slugs to 3" buckshot.

It is kind of a black sheep among my other O/U's:whistling:

What is the red dot? Is it the BSA? I am looking for a good, small, inexpensive one.

    Yes, it's a BSA, 20 mm.

For years I've been using the ($30) BSA 30 mm on handguns, rifles and shotguns.
They hold up surprisingly well. Out of, I guess, about 25 of them I've had a couple bad ones over the years but I've had a couple bad ones with more expensive Red Dots also.

The dot is not as sharp and crisp as a expensive Red Dot but it's good enough for most shooting.

Also the new 20 mm dot is not as bright as the 30 mm dot, but not bad.

The new 20 mm is a nice small size for handguns and small rifles to.

The 30 mm size is too big in some cases.

Put a proper set of wooden stock on it and you're ready to rock.

NO! I have nine O/U's and having one "beater" with a plastic stock that I don't have to worry about dinging up is an advantage.

BTW, Midway just emailed me to notify me that the Hornady Heavy Magnum 3" OO Nickel Plated Buckshot is in. They would only let me order 50 rounds because of limited stock but it was very nice that Midway would let me backorder.

It will be her next week!

Man, that's slick lookin! That the 20mm still? I have a cheep-o reflective sight on my plinker 22, and it's hard to pick up in the direct sun if the batteries are anything but new. Wondering how these work out?

    Gotta have porn ;P
