But what happens when someone is banned? Can they still read GT...? Or is it totally blocked?
Yes, you can still read. And judging from the number of people who have been banned and then came back, you can get back in under a new user name in about 5 minutes.
Hmmm....must be a secret!
You just can't post under the original name....right? What about IPs?
I'm just kinda curious. This came up in one of my classes this morning, and I wasn't sure how to answer it.
I've been banned from other forums and I could still read the posts. I just couldn't submit anything.
I imagine WalterGA reading GlockTalk, shaking his fist in fury and cursing the day he was banned. I think he then shouts "WHY...WHY?" and collapses onto his desktop, sobbing until he falls asleep.
Or maybe not.
Sadly, Wally drops to the floor in despair, whilst chug-a-luggin' Paxil and reading posts from the newest senior members!
Yeah, I wonder if "Ol' Bicycle Legs" wishes he would have played nice?
I think you really have to go out of your way to get banned from GT. Unless talking about a former member is against the rules?
I doubt it. I've met the man in person. From all appearances, he's moved on.
It's one thing if you don't realise you've crossed the line. To intentionally cross the line on multiple occassions indicates how little regards you have for other people, their space, and their rules.
...not directed at WGA per se, just people that go beyond pushing the envelope.
Another forum I frequent can do IP bans, but it's usually reserved for the especially dense or spammers, since it can affect innocent bystanders as well.
As for here, it depends on the forum software and how Eric runs things.
