I got a new puppy from the humane society. I've been mulling over this desicion for the last couple of weeks. I needed some motivation for doing my cardiac rehab, my boy is getting pretty old (13) and I figured I could save one more dog.
Her name is Revo and she is a 4 month old Pit- Amerc Bulldog I’m thinking, maybe Boxer as well? No way to tell without DNA, but whatever, she is my latest project. :)
Just a couple quick pics so far.

I hope you all notice the leash on her, I do practice what I preach.

When I first meet with her, she was a very timid dog who had her face shoved in her mess a few times and her spirit was very, very low. She would not hold her head up at all around people. Well, after a few days of confidence building excersizes, she is coming along very well. Today is day 8 and she will now eliminate on command outside and is starting to tip me off when she has to go out.
Mainly my job for the next week or two is nothing more than building her up. I am thinking about videoing the obedience sessions to DVD and putting them up for folks on the net. If you think this idea would go, let me know what you think. I would charge a small amount for them and mail the dvd to you.
I know some folks learn by watching and some folks can pickup things by reading. I am one of those that needs to see it done before I pick it up.
Wish me luck y'all, this little girl is keeping me on my toes!!!
    Thanks
    Mike

    ps
If I'm slow getting back here its because I'm working her.

That's awesome man. I've recently gotten the time open in my schedule to start volunteering down at the NE Humane society. I can't wait, but they want me to go through their hoops first and take a class that they have set up. Oh well, it's for the animals.

About the DVD, I would buy one in a heat beat.

edit: yeah, I meant to say "heart beat", but I'll leave it like that becasue it sounds kinda funny.

Good luck with her. You saved her life, she'll figure that out and make a great dog I'm sure.

I swear to you, this dog is a chewing machine!!!!
This giant machine has nothing on her!

Everything from a 4X4 piece of wood, to rebar, to my metal bar stool. Simply amazing. Getting the housebreaking thing done now. She will now reliably go on command, which is really important. Next week we start obedience. Should be easy using small treats. She will turn herself inside out for treats. :dog:

Wanna come dog sit for awhile? :tongueout:

    Will update soon.

    Glad to hear that! :laughabove:

Really easy, give it a "code word", for instance my code for going pee is "Hit it" and to do a #2 is "Do it". Say this over and over while your dog is sniffing, when it starts to go simply praise, good boy, good "code word"!!! And really be animated, within 2-3 weeks it will be done.

    Oh yeah, thanks! :wavey:

This really works! I've used it with my Ridgeback. She's stubborn with everything except "go potty" and "go kennel"...

Re: Chewing... oh god, I know. I live in Texas and I've FINALLY found a brand of rawhide Chewie, HEB store-brand rawhide bones, that will last her more than 15-20 minutes. Eowyn would dig CONCRETE out of the yard and chew on chunks of it.

I have managed to find a few uses for her chewing habits, though...

And food motivation? Check. I try to reinforce 'stay', 'sit', 'down', 'come', 'up', 'side', and 'wait' before she eats. She has to do gymnastics for her meals.
