It is the start of harvest time for the family apple farms in North Georgia.
In fact the town of Ellijay, Georgia has an annual apple festival in October. See: http://www.georgiaapplefestival.org

I love to drive to Ellijay and along the apple farm trail, highway 92 and stop by each stand to buy some of their apples and related products. You would be surprised at the variety of apples sold which you never see in stores. The farmers and their families working the stands are friendly and helpful.

I usually end up in Dahlonega, Georgia where I stop and listen to some bluegrass music on the square.

One of the world's biggest pumpkin markets is active in the area near Halloween.

In all seriousness, on a crisp October day, temps near 40 and out with the shotgun looking for bunnys or Pheasants, it's a true pleasure to come across an orchard that has a few apples that didn't get picked.... Love those Jonny's at 40 degress that didn't get picked....:)
