I have an opportunity to buy several (up to 30) 20-round boxes of NORINCO lead core, steel cased, FMJ 7.62 X 39 ammunition (in the silver-colored box) from a friend of a friend.

Are there any online sources for reference? I looked at Cheater Than Dirt and Ammoman, but they didn't seem to have the stuff in the silver box.

Any ideas on what a reasonable offer, per box, would be?

I've never seen it in a green box, but I have seen the steel core NORINCO ammo in the yellow box. Actually, I have a supply of it that I bought 10 or 15 years ago. I've seen it on www.gunbroker.com with an asking price of $10/box of 20; that seems pretty steep to me. Especially since I bought a case (1,200 rounds) for $89.
