Does anyone work and regularly carry concealed in a non-permissive office environment or venue? I don't mean illegally, but in a legal CCW jurisdiction where an individual office, business, or venue frowns upon CCW and would likely toss you out (or attempt to do so) should your firearm be discovered...and no, I don't mean banks, schools, or government facilities. Just curious if folks do and what they carry. :eyelashes:

Not anymore. I carried a RAMI in Scrubs for 3 years.

When I escaped from NYC and landed in NC, I worked for a chain of retail stores that did not allow the carry of firearms. I disobeyed from the beginning. I started carrying a .25 auto, graduated to a .38 Special snubbie, graduated to a .357 Magnum snubbie, and occasionally carried 9mm and .45 autos. In addition, I wore Level 2 body armor. I worked for that chain for over six years until I shot an armed robber.

They made that attempt and even told me that they were doing so, but many of their store managers wanted to hire me. I moved on eventually and worked in a number of security jobs until I received my M.B.A. in Finance.

This is just my opinion but I think it's pretty valid. If you are going to carry the non-permissive environment you have to practice absolute OPSEC.

Absolutely no one that you work with and no one that knows anyone you work with can know that you're carrying and you'd be better off if no one you work with even knew that carrying was something you would even consider.

When I was in that situation I didn't talk about guns at work I certainly didn't talk about concealed carry at work nobody even knew I had a permit and I never implied in any way that I even owned a gun

I did for many years, usually an LCP in a pocket holster.

Any IWB would have been noticed by co-workers who worked closely with me for years.
They would notice if I left my suit coat on, or got a new phone or even a new pen.
There was no gun talk, ever.

I always would go against "Company Policy" if there was one that didn't allow guns and carry concealed, Gun Free Zones get the same respect, none complying from me, way to much going on out there.

Did a few years in plainclothes, a street crime assignment. First, I dressed like the janitor. (See my stickied "Grey Man" thread above.) My gun was a G27 AIWB, and I guess I pulled it off. I had a few that said, "I knew you were a cop!", but somehow that was after they'd done the deed and gotten hooked up for it.

I have carried daily where I am sure my employee would have said "I don't think so", yes.

I carried a G19 or G26

Rural setting where you are one of only three CCW instructors in a 495 square mile county who advertises the course 3-4 times annually on local radio/newspaper and has had 500+ successful applicants since 2002?
In my situation (and likely many other folks who reside in rural locations), your "absolute" theory is anything but.....

The OP specifically asked about people who regularly work in a non-permissive environment. If you make your living as a concealed carry instructor that WOULDN'T be you.

Actually, I do fit in that daily environment.

I've been CCW-ing in a state welfare office (legal but not promoted) for over 15 years so no need to "school me".

I teach state-certified CCDW on weekends; it is not my occupation......my point was it all depends on where you happen to be on the map and how large (or small) you community is, nothing more or less.

I did for three years working as a building maintenance man at a nursing home. I carried a Kel-tec P32 in my right pocket until the key ring I carried on my belt got so heavy that I had to carry it in that pocket to keep it from swinging around.

I wore a dark Blue Uniform shirt and pants and the shirts had two top pockets that buttoned so I carried it in my Left top shirt pocket. The Kel-tec P-32 is incredibly small and lightweight and yet it holds 7+1 rounds and is a far better choice than a 5 shot NAA revolver in my opinion.

Yes, super secret is a great theory, but it doesn't fit with everyone's lived experience

Here in Texas there are 3 signs that businesses can post that govern whether or not we can carry on their premises. They are 30-06, 30-07, and 51%. The state has strict criteria on the wording and posting of these signs. Any sign that does not follow these criteria carries no weight as far as
Texas law is concerned. However, a business owner can give verbal notice of wanting you to vacate their premises (ie. they find out you’re armed). You do have to comply in that case. In some
instances I’ve run across businesses with improper signage. I simply conceal and walk on in. They
are none the wiser. As an example, I’ve seen signs posted “No guns allowed “. Under Texas law, this is an improper sign and thus carries no weight of law. I of course make no effort to educate them. I’m concealed and legal and they’re none the wiser.

Guess I should have read the question closer. The place I work at doesn’t allow carry in their parking lot or the building as well. Forbidding the carry of a handgun in their parking lot is not
enforceable under Texas law. Forbidding the carry of a handgun inside their building is enforceable
under Texas law. Carrying in their parking lot would only be a violation of company policy. Unbeknownst to them, a lot of people keep handguns in their glove compartments while at work.
