I just purchased a LWD Captured SS guide rod for my G34. Just curious, are than any advantages of a non-captured guide rod vs a captured guide rod? When would one opt for a non-captured guide rod?? Thanks for the info

The NC GR is cheaper to manufacture. It is a slight hassle to install
The captured GR costs a little more however "no hassle" installing

Both will accept multiple spring mfgs & weights. If you want to use a captured GR as a NC GR..... Simply remove the tip!

The NC GR does not offer any advantage, except for (maybe) price. The truth is, I would elect to pay a little more for most anything that makes life easier.
