Kawasaki has announced that the 2018 will be the last year, incentives end in October.

It went mostly unchanged for 31 years, I know lots of guys on this forum recommend them and have or had them. With good reason as they’re kind of the glock of motorcycles.

What do you think Kawasaki will do to fill the hole left by the klr?

Haven't heard any rumors about a new bike up their sleeve.

I wonder how the dual purpose market is in general. As a loooong time dual sport guy, I always have an eye out for them. I rarely ever see them anymore.

The single cylinder 650 is on the road to extinction. The nature of the engine means it produces many times the hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide as a 659 twin.

The adventure bike market is picking up it really seems like it’s pretty saturated now. I see plenty of dual sports up here in rural pa.

They’re unveiling a few new models at a trade show in like 21 days.

The death of an icon. I had one 12-15 years back. A good balance between road and light trails. Likewise with value.

I think they will announce a successor, it likely will be a little heavier, a little clunkier, have a little wider more comfortable seat than their mainstream competition, and will make it for another 30 years... :)

Funny, there have been so many MC threads lately, got me thinking it might be time for a new dual sport. My wife is going back to Boston tomorrow taking the young dog to visit our daughter and her dog. I had planned to hit a few shops in their absence and see if anything strikes my fancy. :)

I loved my 2000 KLR650. It is where I got my user name Tom KLRA14. The model number for the 2000 bikes. Never should have sold it

I got my 2012 new for 6500 otd. I’ve put 38,000 miles on it, lived on it on camping trips all over the northeast, dropped it, only work on it myself, and she runs like the day I got her!

I would hop on it tomorrow and drive to Alaska.

Whatever they announce it won’t be all that for 6500.

Yep we're seeing the end of the simple, basic carbureted bikes. DR650 might get bold new graphics though!

Teeny investment, keeps on going forever.

I’m hoping Efi 650 twin six speed with similar clearance, offset spokes to allow tubeless tires, modern suspension, chain drive, same oil filter design, better seat, better brakes. Maybe $8,000.

On the same note, I don't recall seeing so many Africa Twins as I have this past summer...it's like they're multiplying at night. HH

Those look wonderful. I was excited to hear about them when they first announced them but 12-14k is a bit much for me to justify at the moment. They’ve also had some issues with the front suspension from what I’ve read.

I've owned two KLR 650's in my life. Love em. Both are gone now. Currently riding a Versys LT.

I'd love to see that engine in a KLR-ish dual sport bike.
