Please, someone remind me why Glock gen3 are safer then a gen4. I don.t have a gen5 yet, I'll leave the 5 out of this. To me the only difference between the 3 and 4 is the trigger bar bump on the gen4 and you have options with grip size, almost forgot the mag release is bigger on the 4.

I would imagine that Gen4 is more in danger of being discontinued before Gen3.
All depends on what they do with their .40 models. There is that Gen5/MHS combo for the G22 being tested in Brazil but LEOs are ditching .40 for 9 in the US and most LE agencies and military forces worldwide already use 9. And let's not forget the US civilian market is circlejerking all over the 9, hell Sig might never offer the P365 in any other caliber than 9.

The word in my area for gun dealers Glock is no longer making gen 3's. Looked all over finally found a new G19 gen 3. Picked it up today that will give me two of them. I am pushing 70 they should last me my life time.lol
I've been carrying a Gen3 G19 at work since 2003, last November I was just issued a brand new in the box Gen3 G19 to replace my older one, I bought my retired one at a prorated price.

Sad to see the Gen3 be phased out. That’s bound to happen with anything eventually.

I have had the same Gen3 Glock 23 that I was issued since 2003. I have qualified with it twice a year on all sorts of courses. The thing will probably never need to be retired. If it is I hope to have the option of buying it.

May the G19 gen 3s be forever manufactured as they are the epitome of what all Glocks should be. Gen 4s and 5s are fine guns but,.......to bash the legendary grandfather of excellence is a sin. They are the Colt Peacemaker of today. Rest assured,..G19 3.0 will be manufactured long after most of us are gone. Just sayin. ;^)

Glock is notoriously hardheaded when it comes to their ideas. Look how long they have maintained production of their GAP caliber guns. To have them discard 7-8 years worth of development in the Gen 4s to retain an older design makes no sense to me. :dunno:

I really don't see Glock just canceling the Gen 3s (or 4s). My WAG is that at some point Glock will throttle back production of the less popular models of the Gen 3 line. They will keep funneling the popular models to California, et al. The rest may eventually become much like the 17L and 24. Make an occasional batch as they feel the market would support.

Then again, they just might keep all three generations flowing at full speed. Glock will do what they please.

glock will continue gen 3 , but california would be fine without any more gen 3 guns.... there are millions used available and if used prices went up people in the other 49 states would dump the gen 3 guns and get gen 4 and gen 5. is there not some east coast state that does not allow the new glocks as well ??

It’s important because here in California, anything newer than a Gen. 3 is not legal to possess!
Not so. You can't buy a new Glock Gen 4 or newer, unless it is a used gun sold by someone who could buy it. You can possess any used Glock through an FFL (excluding the G18). You can't buy any magazines with a capacity in excess of 10 rounds, but if you owned them before the law, they are "grandfathered in", at least for now.

If true, that is sad news.

Among the most reliable handguns I have ever had the pleasure to own is my Glock Gen 3 Model 19, with the "Teflon skillet" finish on the slide.

Right up there with my S&W Model 10-8 HB.

I am glad that I bought the both of them when I did. Immediately upon purchasing them, I had a feeling that they would both be classics.
