If I were to get a Glock Carbine, I would like one in 10mm with a magazine at as long as the G-21 mod from Kriss. That would make me happy.
It's probably in Ruger's Long Range Plans, IF the folks who post on the internet actually buy enough of the 9mm to keep production of this line profitable.

The only 9mm carbine that fascinates me is the MP-5

Uh, don't they have the exact same number of parts?
No, the changeable grip backstrap "Lego set" alone means one more part on the gen 4 vs gen 3, and --although technically just one part -- the RSA used in all the gen 4 models is more complex (and therefore in fact a lot more parts) than the RSA for all gen 3 except subcompacts.

''interchangable mag release to me are just gimmicks''

I wonder if you are left handed?
I am right handed and felt this way until I fell and broke my right upper arm barely escaping surgery. It has healed well but I had previously bought two Glocks a Gen3 26 NIB and a used Gen4 27. I hate the grip texture on the Gen4's (but I wanted to try 40 S&W and it was a good deal) so I was thankful I had one Gun that I could make functional if it came to me learning to be left handed.

I suppose the liberals and weirdos in LA, SF, and surrounding out vote the normal folks. This is perhaps the one area the Framers may have gotten wrong. It is California that needs a wall - not to keep people out - but to keep the whackos in.

East Germany had a wall - to keep people in. None of “us” wanted to go there. I never thought I would see the day when one or more of our states fit that same description.

The problem with California whackos is the rich ones move to lovely places like Wyoming, and instead of enjoying life among their new neighbors, they immediately want to turn a beautiful place with good people into the same ****hole third-world hell hole that they just left. The leftists from California are nothing more than a cancer which must be stopped.

So, now hear this. The way it ought to be is that until vetted, all Californians are suspect, and other states would do well to disallow migrants from California, NY, and other detestable places. Yes, it IS that bad. And, yes I know that requires a change to the Constitution. Well, maybe not. Maybe just some “make it up as we go along” judges, you know, like that old windbag RBG, except with the same common sense God gives to dogs. And, the corporate-greedy gun companies should stop all gun sales to LE and the National Guard in California. Henceforth, every gun company should sell to the police only what ordinary citizens can buy. California can go to hell.
You wouldn't happen to have been born in California would you? Not trying making fun but that post has a lot of signs this is personal for you. Me, I've never been so I defer to you and those who know.

Three stocking Glock dealers in a 45 mile radius says no more gen 3's. All three had the gen 3's discounted. I got my gen 3 g19 for $459.00. Glock notified them when they could discount them. I started this thread I am not a troll.

I am right handed but I like the options for
left handed people.

As ugly as the Ruger P series guns are I like
them because they give everyone their option.

As knowledgeable gun owners know, the Republic of Commiefornia does not grant gun owners the right to vote. Illegal aliens maybe. Sanctuary cities where illegal aliens can kill citizens and be defended in court using taxpayer dollars, and be released onto the streets again is a good thing for those who run the state. All the while blaming gun owners for gang and gun violence.

Thus every year more and more gun control laws are passed to make guns more expensive in the hope that citizens will stop buying them. Crafting laws to make legal gun ownership illegal, while trying to make law abiding gun owners criminals. Yes, those who craft all the gun control laws know it won't reduce crime, but that is not their ultimate aim. The ultimate aim is to abolish legal public gun ownership and confiscate all guns, except for the police, military, and their friends. Yes, they would abolish the 2nd Amendment if they could. Is it a wonder Feinstein and Pelosi are from Commiefornia? Also watch out for Kamala Harris who wants to be the next President. They all think the rest of the U.S. should follow CA's lead.

Thank God, no.

I have been there.

California is run by stupid idiots who do stupid things, and they all deserve the mess they are in, and the moronic politicians there need a really good public shaming or even a good ass-whipping.

Sadly there is a lot of this going around. I have never been to Texas but I read a lot of thread comments about Californians moving to Texas and screwing with what works there in Texas. I am from NY originally and people from "upstate" (upstate =not from the five boroughs, long island, or Westchester) are very different in their politics generally and feelings on guns than those in the areas I mentioned above. I have family that retired upstate and they own Guns and aren't traumatized by the idea of private ownership.

Seeing as how no one I know actually uses the backstraps, and the RSA is still just one part if you're talking about small parts to potentially replace... So yes, it seems the gen 4 has exactly the same number of parts as the 3. Haters gonna hate

California is a HUGE market for Glock and they've repeatedly said that they will keep pumping out Gen3 for that reason. I would imagine that Gen4 is more in danger of being discontinued before Gen3.

As a Californian, if Glock did discontinue Gen3, I'd be rich!

No; speaking for myself at least, I'm not talking about "nominal" parts to replace; rather talking about *actual* number of parts, and the more complex RSA literally has more parts; more parts in any device is more probability to break or malfunction (the initial appeal of glocks was and still is less parts than other comparable performance quality brands/models, for just this reason). And, if no one you know actually uses the backstraps then-- by your observation -- people buying a gen 4 or 5 are buying something they don't need (a set of backstraps), which to my thinking is an argument against those models, vis-a-vis gen 3 and earlier. YMMV for consumers in general; if for example you do find one of the alternative backstraps a better fit, then it was something you need, and glock may have assessed this drives a significant part of the market,...

Don't get me wrong; I'm not a "hater" by any means nor am I trashing glock gens 4 and 5; if there are items in those gens that I like for other reasons (OEM features, configuration) then I do not hesitate to embrace them. But on number of actual parts there is a factual difference between OEM models and gens, and the big dividing line is between 3 (least amount of actual parts) and 4 (more actual parts).

Yeah, I know, many folks will want to insert "beating dead horse" emoticon here, LOL.
