The intercheable backstrap thing and interchangable mag release to me are just gimmicks.

Whereas I use the large back strap and swap out for extended mag releases (OEM). They have a purpose - even if not for you.

The word in my area for gun dealers Glock is no longer making gen 3's. Looked all over finally found a new G19 gen 3. Picked it up today that will give me two of them. I am pushing 70 they should last me my life time.lol

Fairy tale.....so long as nothing newer than the Gen 3 is legal for purchase in states like California, Gen 3 pistols will carry on indefinitely.

I guess if you count a 4 peice RSA as one part when the original had a 2 peice. Also The intercheable backstrap thing and interchangable mag release to me are just gimmicks. Also Gen 3s had better finish. I'm chasing rust on my Gen 4 all the time. Never on my gen 3s.

I learned to shoot on right handed pistols, Gen 3 Glock pistols specifically. I made due forever using my index finger for mag releases and slide stop lever operation. I honestly agree to a point as some ambidextrous controls without the rest seems only partly useful. The Gen 5 has actually taken over my older G19's as my EDC due to the complete support for left handed shooters.

My issue is that of least common denominator. If you become procient with a pistol thats laid out correctly for a righty then you'll be able pick up any pistol and run with it. If you become proficient with a pistol designed for a lefty then if you have to use a pistol designed for a righty you'll find yourself reaching for that none existent mag release or slide release under stress and that could cost you.

My LGS still has the fall re-release of gen3 RTF2s.

I got a brand new G-21 Gen 3 Supressor ready from my LGS that I am using for my .460 Rowland/.45 Super conversion. It came in trade. So, I know brand new Gen 3's are still out there. Because if you think about it, how long did it take people to warm up to the 4. And now there is a 5. Glock is about making money like any firearm company.

California is a great place to visit any time of year for sunshine and brand new Gen3 Glocks.

Californians have voted that Gen3 Glocks are the only safe Glocks, and that anything after Gen3 is dangerous. Gen4, 5 or any other future Generation are prohibited, in most cases.

In their mesmerizing wisdom, they have determined however, that post-Gen3 Glocks are only safe for:

- Law Enforcement
- Out of State Immigrants moving into the State (you are welcome to bring your G4, or 5)
- Anyone who buys it at a used gun (from Law Enforcement or Immigrants)

Glock has observed that there is still great demand for brand-new Gen3 Glocks from California's dignified citizens.

Therefore, they will continue to produce Gen3's for Californians because there are a lot of them.

Come visit the sunshine State if you would like a brand new Gen3 Glock.* It will be available here for a long time.

* (1) Only Gen3 Glocks made in Austria are safe in California. The voters have determined that Gen3 Glocks that are made in the USA are not safe for regular people. They are safe however, for Law Enforcement, Immigrants and the used market.

(2) Californians have also determined that the G30S (which only comes in Gen3) is not safe in California, no matter where it's made (Austria or USA). Therefore, it is not allowed. But you can buy a G36 slide and mate it with a G30 frame to create a Frankenstein G30S. This is considered safe.

If Glock were to quit making Gen 3 guns, the only people in CA who could buy a new Glock would be so-called "exempt" people (largely Law Enforcement). The private citizen retail market in CA would be closed to Glock, permanently.

Given the tooling and development costs associated with the Gen 3 are likely fully amortized at this point, if would seem a puzzling decision on Glock's part, if they did decide to end production of the Gen 3 guns.

It certainly would thrill the anti-gun constituency in CA.

What about California? They can only sell Gen 3 Glocks the last time I checked. Luckily I got out of that place in 2011. Such a shame.

I have several older Gen 3 9mm Glocks with the frying pan finish and actual Tenifer metal treatment. I don't think a more reliable and durable handgun has ever been made. I can't say that about the Gen 4's.

I have a Gen 1 G17, Gen 2 G20, Gen 3 G23 and Gen 3 G29 all with the earlier parkerized on tennifer finish. Then a bunch of Gen 3's with the frying pan on tennifer finish. Not a spec of rust on any. It's an unending battle with the rust on my year old G43.

Right as rain Roger-I've a Good Buddy who's left handed & He took the time to explain to me how the world we live in is "a right handed society"-I agreed with Him when he showed Me some example's of this.

I would have never suspected that Glock would have continued to manufacture previous generation pistols after introducing a newer generation. What's their purpose since they always tout the newest generation as being the "just got to have" latest innovations? Could be to sell pistols. Ya' think?

Scare tactics to get people to buy them up. I called my LGS they have 11 G19 in stock 6 G26 and 7 G17’s all Gen 3’s They say BS!! They can get plenty of them.
