Prayers offered for the troopers healing. And, glad they got the perpetrators in custody.

Nice way to turn a misdemeanor into a felony! Glad no one appears to have been seriously injured.

I just heard from one of the guys involved in this incident.

The troops are banged up but are doing okay.

Glad everyone ins OK....the pursuit only lasted 14 miles? That's a fairly short one for a limited access roadway chase.... What's the NJSP pursuit policy like?

It is good to know that there are still some supervisors with stones that did not call off the pursuit. I understand that at that hour traffic is usually light on the NJ Turnpike and Staten Island but I have been told to break it off when traffic conditions were the same.

We follow the Attorney General's guidelines which are very restrictive.

4949, for those of us who aren't in NJ, what are the AG's guidelines? I am of the old school chase-em -till -the wheels-fall off philosophy, and luckily my agency has a pretty aggessive pursuit policy, but it's interesting to see where everyone else is on this kind of thing.....

I'm of the "get air support to shoot them" philosophy. Unfortunately, my opinion isn't shared by the folks who make the rules. :whistling:

There is a specific list of crimes that we can pursue for (and the vague "immediate risk of public safety" reason...good luck chasing a BAD drunk driver and him hitting someone--you're screwed).

No PITing, limited spike strips, no real roadblocking, vehicle paralleling, two cars max in a chase, ANY supervisor can call the chase off, etc.
