Hello, first time in this subforum! :wavey: Complete noob to photography. I typically have used and bought point and shoot cameras and end up replacing them every 2-3 years.

I've recently thought about purchasing a quality digital camera and hope to learn a little more about taking better quality pictures.

Any thoughts on the above cameras? Or any other suggestions? Because of my lack of knowledge I'd still like something as user friendly as possible and around or less then $500. Tough task I know, but for what I'll be using it for, I wouldn't like to spend more.

    Thanks! :wavey:

Here's a link to the dpreview comparison between the D3000 and it's two closest competitors. Basically either is fine for what they are, and it comes down to personal preference. The quality of the lens connected to the body is more important than the body itself, and the ability of the person behind the whole kit is more important than all of that put together.
