I currently ccw a 26 in an MTAC. I want to pick up a range/OC gun. This would mostly just be a fun gun to shoot a box or so while training with my 26.

On one hand, it might make more sense to get a 17 and share ammo.

On the other, a .40 or .45 might be fun to shoot. I can't decide.

    What do you all say?

I would say go with the gen4 17 and my next choice would be the gen4 21, the gen4 22 is not a bad choice either. Too many guns and not enough money to get them all at once.

Get the 21. It's a really sweet shooter. I've shot both (gen4's) and I would honestly like to take my 29 and shoot the 22.

I'd get the G21. If cost of ammo is an issue, get the G17. I have both so...

I LOVE my G22 2nd Gen. I have the G22, 23, 26 & 27. If you are wanting to stick with one caliber go with the G17. Either way you can't go wrong, it's a Glock.

I vote G17 so you can share mags and ammo. G21 is a close 2nd, but you really can't go wrong with any of the choices you provided.

If ammo isn't much concern go for the G21 if you are want to have the ability to share ammo mags ect go 17. My opinion would be 21 but that's coming from someone who carries a 30 so...

Yeah I'm not all that concerned with ammo costs, as it's primary function will be a range toy. My 26 goes everywhere with me.

I'm leaning toward 21 right now.

Get the G22 and a lone wolf 40-9mm conversion bbl and you will be able to plink with 9mm when money is tight and keep the G22 with the 40-S&W bbl loaded with self defens ammo for a bedside buddy. There you go all figured out!

The G22 is an awesome shooter. So is my buddy's G21SF that I fired a while back.

    Decisions.....decisions.

    Get both!

Out of all the Glocks I have I really like the .40 cal. I have the 19,23,17,22,21sf and the 35.. If your thinking about the 22 check out the 35. It's a dream to shoot.

Get the G22 with a 9mm conversion barrel, shoot both calibers.

The G21 is a great gun, if you have the money to feed it. You cannot go wrong with any of the options you mentioned.

Do not get a gen 4 21, I now have had 2 of them, and both do the same thing with me other shooters. It shots fine, but ejects cases very week, like 3ft if you are lucky, mostly less. My Dad bought one when I bought mine and his does the same thing. Glock just replaced mine (brand new gun) and it still has the issue. Not a problem shooting, U just have to where glasses and ball cap and don't flinch if one hits your glasses.

That said go with the 22, I have 6 glocks but the gen 4 21 just isn't right

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT buy a model 22!!! I have owned 9 Glocks and two of them have been G22's, a gen 2 and a gen 4 right when they came out that between them I put thousands of rounds through. The Glock 40 ammo is almost as high as 45 ammo these days and the 22 will have NO advantage over a 21 other than 2 rounds in the mag, which is minute. The 21 is an absolute sledghammer and has less recoil than the 22 which is has a lot of recoil and very very snappy! Ive been shooting Glocks for over 15 years, and owned and shot plenty! I can say with ease that my least favorite Glock is a 22, and I have a ton of trigger time on the 22 being it was my first Glock, and I learned to shoot on a G22, If I were you this decision would be between a 17 and 21 like many others on here, that for the most part, know what they are talking about. I have a 17 and really love it. I went with the 30sf for my Glock 45, but my next Glock will most likely be a 21 or 20. I once owned a 20 and wish that I would have never sold it because it is without a doubt the most powerful Glock made. For a HD or range gun would be great for you so at least give it a look. But bottom line answering your question if you are iron clad for sure going 22 or 21 I CAN NOT recommend the 21 more than the 22 and I know what I am talking about!

The 22 is a Mack Daddy pistol. I shoot IDPA with mine (the new 34 will be stepping up next) to improve my HD skills. The 22 is at the front of my bedroom quick safe and I don't see it going anywhere soon! It's full sized, balanced and with the right ammo - a bad ass gun!
