Any newfoundland owners out there? Me and my wife are thinking about getting one.
We rescued one and adopted him out. He was the sweetest natured dog I have ever met. I would have loved to keep him but the circumstances around the rescue prevented me from doing so...
thank you for the reply. We have been seriously considering the rescue option ourselves.
Our three kitties are rescues. We have helped to rescue numerous animals over the years.
Out of all the dogs we have helped, the Newfie is the one we all wanted to keep the most. He had to be placed elsewhere or we would have kept him, as would several of our neighbors.
He was incredibly gentle. He had been left with a training collar with the teeth. He had grown and the collar did not. He was held down and the collar cut out with wire cutters. He didn't make any efforts to fight or even growl. The scarring around his neck was hideous and he was covered in sores. Never did affect his disposition. From what I heard, being that gentle is a pretty common trait with these dogs.
Thanks so much for the information! We appreciate it!
Now, go get yourselves one and come back with lots of pics
If we get one, I promise I will post pics and let you know!
I want one but I feel like I would be punnshing him living in FL if I ever move up North I will surely own one.
I was raised with a Newfoundland, great dog. Do stay away from the beaches, they do like to rescue anyone taking a swim
I had a Landseer Newfoundland and it was my favorite dog ever. Extremely sweet, got along with everybody and everything. Didnt need a ton of exercise either. If you can live with the hair, they are the best.
A friend of mine has a Newfie and she loves the thing. Says it's one of the greatest dogs.
Marissa and Gander
(And yes she IS really hot!)
Yes, they are beautiful! I'm looking at a possible one right now, and have been talking to the breeder extensively (this is his wife by the way, he wanted to make sure everyone knew cause he didn't want to sound like a girl)! We'll keep yah posted on how it goes....
Welcome! You need to get your own account and hang out too
I so wish I could have one. That Newfie we rescued was something else. EVERYBODY loved him and the woman we placed him with left with him with tears in her eyes she was so happy
Great dogs with a great disposition.
Rescue one if you can, even if its mixed, Newfie's are awesome!
