Just wanted to say hello and join the community. My journey here started a couple of months ago when my step father (huge gun fan) came to the realization my wife had no personal protection. He almost became agitated when I wouldn't take a Keltec P-32 he pulled out of his wallet for her to have until we purchased something. I have shot a number of weapons over the years, my wife less so and neither of us have personally owned one. I felt it was time and began my "due diligence" to find what would be best to start with. Both for self defense and for sport.

I talked with everyone I know that's into guns and spent countless hours on the net. Alot of that time on this very forum. What a fantastic resource you have here! Needless to say my search led me to Glock. I then relentlessly researched them, reading everything on every issue (particularly on Gen4's). I ultimately decided to go with the Gen4, a G19 for me and a G26 for my wife (I must say I like that little fella). Mine was test fired on 12/30/11 and it has the shiney grey finish and my wifes G26 was test fired on 1/6/12 and has the matte black finish (for what it's worth). They both have the latest internals. We have only shot around 250 rounds in each and there have been no issues. I was looking for them, but after a mag or two it didn't cross my mind again. It was great and we are looking forward to shooting more but time has been an issue lately.

As with most everything I do I researched everything related to guns and went on a crazy buying spree! I got everything from 511 range bags, cleaning supplies, Pro Ears muffs, Rudy Project glasses (Sweet BTW), extra mags, Gap Enterprise extensions for the 26, a TLR-1s for the 19, and ammo. Boy did I get some ammo! Primarily Speer Lawman 115 and 124 for the range, Speer Gold Dot 124 +p and HST 124 +P for SD. We shot all but the HST's.

Again, what a great forum and resource GlockTalk is. I will be spending a lot more time here. Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm a proud owner of my first Glock, I opted for the 35 as it was talking to me at the local gun store. I wanted a 40 caliber but am now thinking about converting mine to a 9mm for cost and capacity reasons. I have about 3k rounds of 9mm and 2k of 40s&w in my arsenal so I am still torn. I do know that I am really digging this new gun. I have a number of Rugers and they have been great but they just don't have the same feel as the Glock. Congratulations to you and your wife.
