If I have a .38 super (springfield slide/Imbel frame)w/a tungsten guide rod, and a fiber optic front sight, anong division kaya ako puede sumali? I know there are different categories (production, open, Standard, modified etc...). Anu-ano ba difference nila? BTW..the pistol I'm referring above is my kumpare's gun, binebenta sa akin (financial distress nga ako eh)...kaya bilin nyo na Norinco ko!!!;f. Sensya na, first time eh. Thanks.

    Standard, Minor scoring

There are 5 divisions in IPSC

9mm ang minimum caliber allowed to compete. no .380s or .22s

    1. Open - anything goes, no limit sa mag capacity, no limit sa size ng pistol, scopes. usually 38 super. wala pa akong alam na gumagamit ng 9x19 major dito sa pinas. si oliver siguro mauuna. you can compete here also

    2. Modified - scopes, porting/compensators allowed but it must fit the IPSC box

    3. Standard - any pistol type without any barrel porting. must fit the box. 40cal minimum caliber for scoring major but must meet 170PF. below 170, minor. 38super, .45, 9mm pwede. dito papasok pistol mo. 1911's ang dominant pistol dito.

    4. Production - sa car racing, stock class ang equivalent. very limited ang modifications allowed. nag do-dominate ang mga hi-cap 9mms dito like the glock, CZ, Tanfoglio, Jericho.

    5. Revolver

Meron din mga Categories with special awards. Like Senior Category, Media/Celebrity, Lawman/Military, Single Stack, Junior, Ladies, etc.

A, C, and D. Scored as A=5, C=4, and D=2 points sa Major and 5, 3, and 1 point sa Minor scoring.

Yung Metric board (humanoid) has 4 (A, B, C, D). Hindi na ito ginagamit sa ipsc.

IN open you'll be up against red dot guns with 19 rounders and comps.

    PF = bullet weight (in grains) X velocity (in feet/sec) / 1000

Sa standard, you need 40 cal minimum bullet type to make major. This means kahit yung super mo eh nagmi-major, minor pa rin ang score. And you can't use your extended mags (similar to the 45 10-rounders) kasi di na yan kasya sa box.

Sa open, wala'ng problema since 9mm bullets that make major will be scored major. You only have two limits: 1. bullet weight should not be less than 120 gr and 2. mag length mo dapat 170mm.

Since newbie ka, shoot what you got sa club matches. Pwede ka sumali kahit 'di ka armscor member. With your singlestack, you need at least 5-6 mags, a decent holster and mag pouches. You can hook up with uncle Tony for these items (somebody post his cell pls). Don't worry about scoring or performance yet. Just be aware of the gun safety rules, muzzle direction, trigger finger placement, get your A's and enjoy. ;)

Lastly, with your 38 super, madali mag convert to 40 yan.

BTW, true weight daw ang nag-assemble ng baril nila and nakita ko naman yung mga parts and most of the small parts are sti. san nga pala nakakabili ng mag pouches for .38 super? maybe next month i can hook up w/you guys para manuod muna. may sched na ba sa Armscor next month? Thanks again.

Rig na lang ang gagastusin mo then save up for a double stack 40. :)

50K is a bit much for the gun in question even with the freebies. I agree with Batangueno's recommendations.:)

im considering the .38 super because i can get it from him in an installment basis. mag-down payment ako for 15k and bahala na ako sa balance hanggang february of next year. ok na di ba? one more thing, nahawakan ko na yung baril and naiputok ko and compared to my norinco and armscor, mas comfortable ako and mas nagamay ko agad. and besides gusto ko lang muna mag-enjoy sa competition and sabi nyo nga....have FUN!! next year pag-iipunan ko double stack in .40. thanks sa mga advice nyo :) . gusto ko muna manuod ng competition...kelan ba sa armscor? :)

Sa payment scheme na yan, okay yan as long as reliable at maganda groupings ng baril. Importante enjoy ka pag pumuputok. ;)

Its your call but If you have plans to get a hi cap next why not just keep the money you saved and wait till next year to buy what you want. Ditto on what batangueno said. Shoot your Norinco. I bet your friend is selling to finance a .40 hi cap.

Pasensiya na pare, I didn't know the circumstances behind it. If your heart is set on it then buy it. The more the merrier.

No, sa STD ka lang talaga pwede. Ang 1911 kasi single-action ang mechanism, meaning, once you cock the hammer, pulling the trigger will only do a single thing, to release the hammer and strike the firing pin.

sa double-action, pulling the trigger will do 2 things, hence, double-action, move the hammer rearwards and as it reaches the end of its travel and disengages the sear hooks, release the hammer to strike the firing pin. if you don't want to release the hammer, you can lower it again by easing off the trigger. Mga revolvers usually are double action but meron ding mga single-action tulad ng mga cowboy guns.

There are also DA/SA and double action only mechanisms.

Okay magumpisa sa 38 super sa standard. kahit minor scoring ka, basta puro alpha, pareho lang yan! the important thing is to learn gun handling, gun safety and mag-enjoy

okay......kaya pala ang cz puede sa production. nakaputok na kasi ako ng cz and i observed na pareho sila ng revolver. di gaya ng 1911, once pumutok, naka-cock ulit yung hammer. thanks....eye cutter.
