    Gotta love this...

"This was a terrible deed in its outcome — it wasn't some prank that didn't do any harm — it did a lot of harm because it sent out an alert that people can get away with something like this," Lautenberg said.

So it did a lot of harm because it showed just how incapable the TSA agents really are? Airports have become a lot like prison facilities...you get to be strip searched, stand in line, take orders, and don't talk back. And you still get all the ammenities like food, toliets, and cable tv.
Now if they would just put some beds in there so you'd have a place to take a decent nap when your flight gets delayed....

So a ROPE is supposed to confer some sort of 'security'?

    I mean really: a SECURITY ROPE!!!!:wow:

So the TSA must be assuming that good guys AND terrorists will NEVER try to duck under a SECURITY ROPE. :wow:

It just boggles the mind: the entire air traffic system can be shut down simply because somebody ducked under a ROPE????

How about putting up a WALL??? Make it about 4 or 5 feet tall, so most people can see over it, but it's not easy to JUMP OVER. :steamed::steamed::steamed:

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

It just amazes me the length the government will go to, to go after its citizens. 5 Federal Marshalls surrounding a citizen for trespass! Wow, great police work. Never seen someone shackled for trespass. Seems that that money could have been better spent going after real BG's. Washington started screaming for his head and he needed to be punished by the fullest extent of the law. Everytime you turn around there's another Dem losing face with this country.

Chinese born, been in the country 5 years going to school. He is probably an F1 non immigrant that is here to attend school. He might have lawful permanent resident status, but I doubt he made USC in 4 years.

I am not seeing the problem here.

He was waiting for a passenger behind a rope.

Passenger arrives, and he ducks under a rope and leaves, because there is no security at the post.

Another waiting person tells on him.

Security cameras (broke) did not pick up the rope ducker, they have to use another back up camera system to get the footage.

They hold all flights even though they have footage of him leaving.

They spend thousands of dollars tracking him down, instead of fixing the broken security cameras.

    Then fine him $500.

TSA should be fined not the ducker! :faint:

TSA should have a line with a rope that says all terrorists should check in here!

Some folks are making a big deal out of arresting this guy.

But darn, he was warned once and put back. Then he took his chance when the guard left his station (another post), crossed under the rope, and caused the govt t react as if the Lindbergh baby was with one of the passengers and just had to be found. Search everyone, and again.

All because some dunder head couldn't follow the stupid rules of the God........I mean TSA, and jonesed for another kiss from his sweetie.

Saw the ex head of security for El Al on TV last night. Said he wrote to the TSA, offered to take just one airport of TSA's choosing, and implement Israeli type of security training and guidelines there. Just to see if it could work in the US. Said he got back a very nice letter from them, that basically said, "Go to hell".

Yeah, we're so tough on terrorist.

    No.

It showed how the system is ineffective, not the agents. Course, with some execptions, most of them are just clock watchers.

Security is an illusion, they know it -and so do most people who are looking closely at it. If you allow someone to start highlighting the holes and weaknesses of the system, more people will slowly see the truth.

If enough people see the truth, how are they going to keep up the illusion, plus the taxes taken for it, etc.

Don't embarrass the government. They will rain holy hell down on you to distract from their unwavering incompetence.

Late last year there were still instances of contaband being found on planes landing in Miami from Jamaica and Trinidad.

Those drugs didn't appear out of thin air in the cargo holds...it is completely and totally impossible for the United States to extend it's security beyond it's borders into the physical space of other countries. Sure, we do it for Bermuda (where we have actual customs and immigration there) and at some points of entry from Canada<>USA,

but it's only a matter of time before someone calls the two guys covering security at baggage handling in ...let's say Montego Bay, and a call to a baggage handling supervisor, telling them their families are being held at gunpoint and they need them to look the other way for 2hrs,

and there is your explosive device, ready to detonate on approach at Newark or JFK.

Look at how much energy is expended in keeping the Sec. of State's plane clean. (Not to mention AF1). It would take about 60% of that effort we use to keep Clinton's plane clean to sanitize those non-US airports for incoming flights. We don't have the money, influence or juice to do that. It's only a matter of grains of sand thru the hour glass before our aviation system is once again probed.

The Israelis on the other hand, DO exert serious influence at EVERY TERMINAL where flights originate from getting into Israel. No matter if it's LHR, LAX, CDG - they use that juice to make their aircraft safe. Plus they are not as politically correct as we are. They cannot afford to be.

I fully agree that the line jumper was an idiot...but there are lots of idiots out there. JasonV hit it...security is an illusion.

True story...this last year someone I know personally boarded a plane with his carry-on bags and unknowingly had a full ziplock bag of .40 caliber hollow points in his computer bag. He found them AFTER landing at his destination airport. His bag went straight thru the x-ray machine and onto the plane with him. A friend of his put them in his bag after a day at the range, but failed to let him know. How the hell does that not get caught?!

And yet now they want to unionize, something that's bound to help.

    Them anyways.

    Our families can just die.
