Ok so planning on a new pistol around Xmas time if I can. All this S&W rebate talk has me back on the Shield 45, always kinda wanted one. What's everyone think about these guns? As far as my carry/home defense needs I'm set for all seasons so it would be an extra possible home/carry/range gun but no real purpose other than adding a 45 back to the home. I've also looked at the M&P 2.0 compact 45 as well. I'm also open to suggestions.

I don’t personally own one, but I know people who do and they like them.

I know some people still feel betrayed by S&W over their internal lock on revolvers, but I believe they still put out a quality product.

For the money, I wouldn’t hesitate to try a Shield if I was in the market for that type of pistol.

If you want a 45 ACP, almost anything except a S&W.

The Shield rebate is for 9mm and .380 only at the present time.

Great pistol that 9mm Shield. Just about perfect.

I really like my .45 Kahr. The trigger is so smooth and breaks clean. Easy gun to hit with. I have a lot of 1911's and nothing beats the single action -- the Kahr is like a quality revolver action. Room for both.

I shot the 45ACP Shield when it was first introduced. I was impressed.

AJShooter9, I guess I'm getting old because I just can't see giving that bunch at SW one dime of my money. I remember when SW, and Colt had stellar reputations within the gun community. Reputations are strange things. They take years to develop, and can be destroyed within the blink of an eye. Then, they have to be rebuilt, and it takes years to rebuild a reputation. I love the older Colts and SWs as much as anybody. My first revolver was a Colt. Still have it after all these years. Two other revolvers I'm also proud of are SWs. If you want to buy a Shield, who am I to say you shouldn't? I suppose you could consider your purchase to be a part of the rebuilding of SW's reputation. I hope you enjoy your ownership of your Shield, and I look forward to a very positive range report.

Love my .45 Shield. It feels great in my hand, it's a real pleasure to shoot, and it's amazingly accurate. I shoot it better than many of my full-sized handguns.

It was in my carry rotation for a couple years until the P365 pretty much replaced everything. Even though I don't carry it anymore, I have no plans to get rid of it because I just think it's a really great gun.

I bought into the shield 45 when the rebates were on. One of the best guns 1 own.
