I've tried twice to get into revolvers but ended up selling them off in short order for different reasons.

The EAA Windicator was just not a very good gun; not horrible, just not up to the standards of S&W, Ruger, or even Taurus.

The GP100 was a soft shooter but had a strange balance, and an excessively heavy and long DA pull. I'm sure the trigger could have been worked, but there are competing revolvers with better triggers out of the box.

So, it's been a long time with no revolver, and a few boxes of .357Mag collecting dust. I still think no collection is complete without at least one wheel gun, and if only one, it should be chambered in the quintessential 38 Special/.357 Magnum.

On the latest trip to the toy store I fondled several wheelies and narrowed the focus down to a couple Smiths, and finally settled on a new 4" 686-6 Plus. Looks like a range day is in order for this weekend.

Great do it all revolver! Dry fire it about a thousand times and then shoot the snot out of it. Replacing the trigger return spring with a 11 or 12 pound Wolff helps.

You chose very well. That is an excellent brand, a good size, and the extra capacity sets it apart.

    Very nice revolver!

I love my 686. Easy to shoot. Accurate. And no brass to pick up :)

Good choice. The L-frame is a great platform and it checks most of the boxes.

You just can't go wrong with a S&W revolver. The one you got is on my list. Nothing handles better than a 4" .357. I've the 5" 3-5-7 and love it. Now I need a "beater".

    Honestly Dave, a "wheelie"? LOL.

But seriously, you can't go wrong with the 'Smiths; I've got a couple, the 2.5" and 4" 686+ models shown below who're hangin' out with their bud, a 6" Colt King Cobra...

Congrats! The 686 is a great revolver.

    Revolvavirus Warning:
What is it with all these revolver purchases lately?!? People keep posting great new buys, beautiful revolver pictures, and infecting the forum with the revolvavirus! This is contagious folks! You are starting an epidemic!

That's a nice looking gun. I hope it serves you well for many many years!

In my humble opinion, the four-inch 686 looks the best!

Looking forward to some range pics...

Nice working gun. Definitely a do-all gun, not just revolver. If you could only have one, that would be a great choice. Handsome devil too!

Enjoy it in health @UncleDave .

I've had a 4" L686+ on my list for far too long.

I'm not sure if these things come pre-adjusted from the factory, but this thing shoots POA with a center hold out of the box. Nice ragged hole in the 10 circle out to 25 yards. I was indoors so I only shot .38 Special and it swear I could hear it laughing at me. I need to feed this thing some magnums.

You should bump it up the list. The smile factor is strong with this one, it is useless to resist.
