I bought a Springfield TRP two weeks ago and shot it yesterday. This is my first Springfield 1911. So far some what impressed. Out of 366 rounds fire I had two failures to return to battery. Round 29 and round 192. 29 was +P Winchester and round 192 was UMC ball-both 230 gr. UMC gets dirty fast. I can see why Springfield gets high marks. DO NOT like the full length guide rod. Hello Brownells for parts.

Yeah they are really great guns. After a few hundred rounds and using quality magazines, you should have no problems. I use Wilson Combat mags.

I love my TRP's. I also just made the change from Wilson ETM magazines to Chip McCormicks after the ETM's failed to lock the slide back.

I agree on the FLGR. I switched out to the traditional plug too.

I like to use CMC Powermags in my Springfield.

I also ditched the guide rod and went back with Colt rod 'n plug. The plug has a dimple on it that keeps it stuck to the spring.

No. We all just realized what a great gun for the money the TRP is. So will you...after you buy one.

Especially with some of the problems that had popped up with the Nowlin barrels used in the Pro models. Personally, I think you can get a TRP, swap out the MIM parts with better ones, and have a great gun for quite a bit less cash.
