    I snagged a used G23 & I need some help...

    1) 'appears' to be a 3rd Gen frame; serial # HYTXXX; does this serial # group fall in 3rd Gen bracket?

    2) I want to shoot .357 Sig in the future; is this frame strong enough to handle the additional pressures?

    3) what do I have to obtain to shoot .357 Sig from my G23...who makes a barrel? do I need different mags? do I need an upgraded recoil spring assembly?

    thanks

    1) 3rd gen frame has finger dividers and the accessory rail on the lower front.

    2) The frame is exactly the same for .40 or .357

    3) The only thing necessary is a barrel swap. The mags are compatable.
You can use a stock Glock barrel from the G32 or an aftermarket barrel.

From our Glock Serial Number thread:

Well, G23 barrels and G32 barrels are interchangeable. The outside dimensions are exactly the same, and the part of each casing, 40 and 357, sits exactly the same on the breech face with either barrel. The .357SIG is actually a .40SW casing necked down to fit a 9mm bullet.

So any G32 barrel will work. You can use the G32 Glock barrel from the factory, or if you want to shoot lead in a barrel with traditional rifling, you can get an aftermarket barrel for a G32.

You can use the same magazines for either cartridge, just be very careful not to load the wrong cartridges in the wrong barrel.
