It had been sitting in the display case at the pawnshop for weeks. I was hoping it would sell before now, so that I could resist. When it was in there today I no longer could.

I made them an offer I hoped they would refuse. They didn’t. So she came home with me.

She has definitely been fired, but is in 95+ percent condition.

    Pics to come.

A story about a new gun, with no make, model, price or pictures is kind of frustrating.

    It’d better be a Colt.

Well he did say it's a 1911, so we at least know it's a Colt.

If it's a 1911, as opposed to a 1911A1, it must be pretty old. And if it's in 95% condition, It's probably worth a lot of money.

I wonder what he paid for it.

Sorry guys.......I had no intention of posting such a crappy thread title. Just in a hurry.

It’s a series 80 Colt 1911. I have no idea when it was made. It had been sitting on the shelf for weeks and I was tempted by it’s nice bluing and clean condition.

Sticker price was $749. I offered $675 hoping they’d turn it down because the last thing I need is another handgun haha.

Not my first or even third 1911, but it is my first Colt. I’m not really a 1911 guy, but I do appreciate their history. I tend to like the mil-spec-ish guns.

Terrible photos as usual, but here she is.

I need some mags and am considering Mecgars. My Springfield Milspec needed a plus power spring and Wilson mags to cycle reliably. Not sure if this one will or not. That was a long time ago. Curious how this one will cycle, especially whether it will cycle JHP.

The only bad thing about your first 1911 is you have to have more. They are very addictive.

I made an offer they accepted, and paid them with $100 bills. I will sleep soundly tonight haha.

My guess is they gave a loan on it and didn’t have much into it. I have done a lot of business with this shop over the years and I can usually tell when they are ready for something to move.
