Hi everyone, I was really pleased to find this forum after making my first firearm purchase ever a couple weeks ago. My gun will be used mostly for home defense, so I was tempted to go with the reliability of a revolver, but even though I've never owned a gun until now, I've always admired Glocks. I decided to go with the Glock 19 based on the reliability and reputation of the brand and b/c I think the 9mm round is probably best for a beginner.

I made my first post in the midwest forums b/c I am from St. Louis and I shoot at the Top Gun range in Imperial, MO. I hope to get to know other firearm enthusiasts that go to this range. I purchased some Corbon Powerball 124gr +P JHP's, but so far I've only shot the cheaper range ammo. I am gonna check out the ammo situation at my local wal-mart before going to the range tomorrow.

I look forward to reading many posts and benefiting from the knowledge shared on this board. Thanks for creating such a great community.

Welcome to GT! Great choice on the 19; my 19 is my daily carry piece. It's one of the best that can be had.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I do believe a 1911 is next on my agenda Okie. The wife seems to like the grip of a 1911 better (thinks the Glock is too chunky), but she wants it in 9mm. I don't know if I can bring myself to purchase a 9mm 1911. Maybe if it is a sub compact, but I still don't much like the idea.
