I am interested in buying my first 1911. I am impressed with the knowledge of the members here. I would like to get suggestions in the $700 and under price range. I will use it mostly for fun at the range. What is the best quality for the money?
Thanks in advance for your time!
    Darren

    Hi Darren,

Hokie pretty much covered it, which is what i replied to your PM.

The R1 is nice if you want a "GI" style gun. i'm very impressed with mine that i'm going to cut it up :animlol:

The RO would be my pick between that and the Spartan, and
    DESERT EAGLE 1911 G

Yeah, I think if I was going with a $700 blaster...I'd definitely go with the RO too. LOT of gun for the money, a nice platform for a few tasty upgrades, GREAT customer service and lifetime warranty.

I agree as well on the RO. I got my Spartan for $600, but they have went up in price since then. I love my STI, but it is lacking in some areas. The park'd finish is weak and it has a plastic trigger and MSH. I'd look to the RO in your price range

I like the STI Spartan or Derest Eagle 1911.

The Springfield Range Officer is also very impressive, though I don't own one.

I may get one at some point. They are the 1911 the Loaded should have been all along.

That said, there are a couple others I want first.
