Well today I bought a LNIB Sig P229R (edited to add: It's a .40 S&W) two tone with Siglite night sights after searching for what seemed like forever for the right deal to come along. Also came with a Blade-Tech paddle holster too. Never owned a Sig before but I have shot one before. I can not wait to shoot it, planning on it tomarrow at a friends house out of town. Anyway just wanted to show off some pics. You got any tips for a new Sig shooter?

Had I not purchased my third Steyr a few months back, I would have a w. german SIG229. The 228/229, Steyr, G19 and CZ P-01 are amongst the very best carry/fighting pistols to be had. You get alot in terms of firepower/performance, while sacrificing nothing.

Awesome! I'm kinda looking for the same thing. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it and how much did you pay? New? Used?

It was listed for sale on Northwest Firearms, I did a local face to face. Paid $650, the previous owner had recently bought it new from a local shop with receipt to prove and just needed money.

I have one on my hip right now! Love the Sig P229, great gun.

    Congrats!!

No tips on how to shoot it, but its easy to shoot these guns pretty accurately. A lot of fun as well!

Awesome gun, I own the P229 and love it. As centr0 said, "lube it up real good", and keep it lubed. The Sig, unlike the Glock, is a wet weapon.

Congrats on a great choice. I've had a P229R DAK for a couple of years now and love it. I bought a .357sig barrel and BarSto 9mm conversion barrel for mine. Makes a great gun even better.

I noticed that when I took it apart the first time - had enough oil to lube my Glock for the next two years lol.

I've always used CLP to clean and lube everything I've owned. I read before that Sigs like oil so I generously (not overly, but more than usual compared to my Glocks or XD) lubed the rails, barrel hood, lug and muzzle before I shot this last night but is CLP enough or should I use a thicker grease or something for the Sig?

Sig's like grease on the rails and oil other places. Read it on the Sig Sauer forum.

Did you know you can use the Sig 226 .357sig, and .40 short and weak magazines in the 229? They do stick out a little. Will work for range or back up reloads.

Good luck with a Sig-Sauer great firearms.

I like the Glock's better for CCW.

    But that is just me.:wavey:
