I just put together a PSA complete lower and 16" PSA 300 BLK upper with OD green Magpul MOE grip, stock and handguard. Got the upper and premium PSA BCG on their Easter sale. Everything went together with great fit and finish.

I attached an Aimpont PRO this afternoon and sighted it in. Feed reliability was 100% from the beginning except the bolt didn't lock back after the last rounds were ejected. Recoil doesn't seem as sharp as my 5.56 PSA AR rifle. Accuracy was great.

I assume the bolt will lock back after I put more rounds through it. It has a pistol length gas port, carbine buffer and FA BCG.

I'm very happy with the rifle so far and the price was very reasonable. The Palmetto State Armory build quality seems as good as any AR I've owned or seen.

I plan to hunt hogs and deer with it. Most of my successful hunting has been at less than 100 yards. More like 50 yards, so well within the most effective range of the 300 BLK.

I understand your confusion.

I started out thinking the 300 upper in question was overgassed and the bolt carrier group was outrunning the bolt lock. I was looking at it completely wrong. After doing more reading I realized it was in fact undergassed and started considering fixes for that condition.

It was undergassed due to some problem with the BCG. It seems to be just right now.

I'm also guilty of the same,I even thought in my case I might have bolt bounce associated with it. SJ 40

I shot the PSA 300 16" BLK rifle awhile this afternoon. I was mainly shooting 3rd groups at 50 yards to further sight in the Aimpoint PRO. I shot 14rds of Rem/UMC, 2rds of Barnes and 1 Fed AE (all supersonic). I had two failures to lock back with the two 110gr Barnes rounds. Everything else cycled flawlessly using the same PMAG 20 I've used since the beginning. I think I need to go to a lighter carbine or H buffer instead of the Spikes ST-T2 buffer. Should solve the occasional locking back problem.

I'm still very pleased with the performance and build quality of the Palmetto 300 BLK upper. I received a third PSA complete MOE lower this week and it looks great. If they finally fix the billing error I had with the 300 BLK upper, they will have a loyal customer.

Update: PSA cheerfully fixed the billing problem finally.

I shot a big raccoon stealing corn from my feeder last night with my PSA 300 BLK and 110 VOR-TX Barnes ammo. Massive tissue damage and blood loss. Never knew what hit him.

I was waiting to try it out on a big wild boar but he didn't come last night.

The results really made me confident in the caliber and ammo.

I shot a 325 lb North Texas wild boar this week with the PSA 300 BLK rifle and Barnes 110 gr VOR-TX ammo at 30 yards. The boar stood and squealed, flailed on the ground and then ran 40 yards before collapsing. I hit him in the top of the neck as he faced me. The bullet hit the neckbone. I haven't been able to recover the bullet yet.

I am pleased with the rifle and ammo. The 300 BLK requires good shot placement on such a big boar. Based on the results, I wouldn't hesitate to use the combination on a whitetail or hog at <150 yards. I was hunting at night so I noticed the low flash. The 300 BLK recoil is light and the blast is low. I really like the cartridge and plan to put together a 300 BLK pistol and then SBR soon.

SJ 40, I haven't had any problems since PSA replaced the BCG and I went to a carbine weight buffer.

I'm glad your problems have gone away too. We visited Vermont a few years ago in May. Beautiful green countryside. Great cheese, coffee, maple syrup and apples.

Large pigs aren't good to eat and are too lean for bacon, unfortunately. This one was fed to the bottom feeders. However, they are very destructive to land and harm wildlife and their habitat and food resources. We have lots of them but they can be elusive and largely nocturnal.

Didn't know that of wild pigs, thankfully whitetails are always good eating.

I too was recommended the standard carbine buffer with the Omen 300 buffer spring, yup it's singing rite along. SJ 40
