So I have taken the plunge and after much range time with rentals I've decided to go with the Glock. Fits my hand perfectly out of the box, price was right, with the ability to purchase a 40 - 9 and 40 - 357 sig barrels, I essentially have three firearms in one. How could I go wrong. Didn't get a chance to go to the range and fire it, but eagerly waiting.

good choice in the 23. I have a 22 and now a 23 as of this past Thursday.

Good luck finding a Gen4 AA kit. If you see one, buy it on the spot :) they are tough to locate.

Were you in front of me in Caso's today?

I remember you mentioning the 9/40/357 swaps.

Yes, that was me. I ordered the Advantage Arms 22lr Glock 19/23 Gen4 conversion kit. Only took 2 weeks to get (surprised).

Congrats. I got the Gen 4 G23 and G19. The compact Glocks are my favorite.

Congrats on the purchase of your first pistol. The Gen4 23 is an excellent choice! It's a sad day for my Gen4 26, as the 23 is quickly pushing it out of rotation.

    Thanks everyone!

I know i'm opening up a can of worms with this, but recommendations for ammunition.

    1. Home defense: one that will stop a threat but not over penetrate.

    2. Range shooting

    Go! :duel:

1 - you will get loads of different responses but I think most will agree that you test anything you want to use. Make sure it feeds 100%

2 - My 22 eats everything I run through it; so far its had Winchester CleanFire, Winchester white box, Remington UMC, and Blazer. I put 60rds through my 23 yesterday for the first time with no issues. I was using the Remington UMC bulk pack. Just remember a firm grip.

I like Corbon DPX 140gr for defensive rounds.

For factory rounds usually shoot WWB. Also a fan of Speer Lawman, although they're a little pricier, feed great in my Gen4s.

I figure a .40 inch hole will do as much damage as I am likely need to inflict...

I have ended up with 2-23s, a Gen3 and Gen4. Enjoy them both, but oddly, have found my recently-acquired 21 (.45) easier to shoot and more accurate for me. Also fits my hand better.

But, you can't go wrong with a 23..lotsa folks here love them.

Unfortunately I still have yet to fire my new 23. But I has a question what the hell is that copper colored residue in the slide ? And should I clean it out.
