Great gun to start with. Welcome and excellent choice. I would hold both and see what you like better.

Yes, the Glock 19 is a perfect "starter" pistol.
    You'll love it.

Just pick which version you like the best and go for it.

The 19 is not only a great starter pistol, but also one you'll stick with. You just can't beat the price/performance/reliability ratio.
Like others have said, go to a gun show or something and handle both gen 3 and 4 versions. I'd go for the gen 3, since it feels about the same to me and is cheaper.

We will be better able to make a recommendation after we know what the Gen4 G19 looks like and when it will be available.

Definitely the G19 is a perfect start. I would wait for the gen 4 I keep hearing it will be out in a few months.

Welcome to the forum and hope your ready for your new addiction (the forum and firearms). My two cents, go to a gun store and see what feels best first, then get on here and do a search for that model. Chances are someone on here has done a review of it. Most GTers are very helpful.

Welcome to GT. No sign yet of the G19 Gen 4. I would wait and see. I saw a Gen 3 G19 in the store by me the other day in OD green. It looked really good.
