Korea never bombed Pearl Harbor.

They are much improved as far as automotive products but their diesel tractors & heavy equipment still have a long way to go.
I'm not denying the quality has improved. I think the competition has helped the industry.
Had a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Ultimate. Never had any issues except the pain was peeling off the wheels and the headlights got condensation inside of them. All were replaced under warranty. Not a single other issue.
Now I have a 2019 Subaru Forester Sport that has been in the shop over a week because the engine blew up on me. 26+ years of driving and I’ve never been stranded on the side of the road before.

Was dissapointed they stopped putting v6's in them.
4's just don't cut it for me.
Hyundai and Kia used to be crap back in the day. Now they are two of the best brands out there. Can't go wrong with either of them.
I didn’t notice the torque steer, but mine was all wheel drive and a 4 banger (like 2015-2016 vintage). It drove great actually, in some pretty adverse conditions. The trip over Donner going west was some very heavy snow and the trip back North on I95 was again a whiteout from Winnemucca to the the Snake River, it was a breeze.
1990 was nearly 30 years ago, back in those days I agree that quality was appalling. Hyundai had trashed their brand so much that they had to offer the longest warranty in the auto industry just to get people to consider buying their cars. Today the improvement has been incredible, my 2005 Getz which I've owned for the last 11 years has been dead reliable and required little beyond routine servicing. I'm looking at trading it in on a newer Hyundai.
Your money, your choice.
I've owned the same Kia for eight years now and it's never needed the warranty to begin with.
I could've used the Chevy Corvair, but there were a lot of folks who liked those (except Ralph Nader, if I remember right).
I was in high school - my GF's dad bought her a new Vega -
It looked pretty sharp - silver gray with black stripes. 4 banger with a 4 speed manual transmission.
The gear shifter would lock up - the linkage was off - dealer tried many times but could never fix it.
You could stop at a red light - try and shift it into 1ST gear and the shifter would not move -
So you shut it off - crawled under and moved the linkage or whatever it was -and it would then shift normal -
Problem was you never knew when it was going to lock up.
One time in the winter - roads were full of slush - I was driving - stopped at a redlight and it locked up -
So I am in the middle of the road - laying on my back in slush - trying to wiggle the linkage -
Cop pulls up - asks me if my shifter locked up - I said yes -
He says - my wife's Vega does the same thing.
That was the last time I ever drove that car - her dad finally gave in and traded it in on a Monza
Yes a Monza -not a Mazda -
Chevy Monza was also a POS -
My next door neighbor just had the same issue with her 2019 Subaru -
They gave her a Camry to drive while they replace the engine in her Subaru -
Yes they have. Korea is the new Japan in terms of tech.
Hyundai and Kia have come a long way in terms of quality. And Samsung has exceeded Sony in HDTV quality as well. And we all know about Samsung phones. They left the originals, Motorola and Nokia, in their dust.
I look for them to get better and better until the next tech country emerges...perhaps India will be next.
I aint buying anything from a country that eats dogs.
Thanks for the good read..... my dad’s was white, think was a GT or he added the badges after the 1st small block. he added 2 black racing stripes when it was a 4 banger, but don’t recall any problems w the shift linkage but he did put a Hurst Competition Plus 4 speed shifter in it, then when did the conversion, put a 3 speed 400 tranny in it with a 283, then put a 350 in it. It looked really sharp, cut the mid section of bumper out. Car was exceptionally fast since it didn’t weigh anything, but no fun to drive as he says lol
That car was his pride n joy..... I recall one day after a rain storm my sister n I went out to play afterwards, we decided to have a mud fight on the car port, not a good move, we were like 5 and 6 lol
Yup, my dad even had one, well went with my grandmother to go buy it when he was in high school, after he got back from Vietnam, she gave it to him. He also had 2 Beetles and a bus lol
Do either Hyundai or Kia make anything remotely like a Land Cruiser?
I have a buddy with a Vega wagon that's tubbed and pushing around 900 horse at the tires.
He calls it his "secret weapon' when he drives down the street.
I love that car.
I’m gonna assume it was a Forrester
