Hi new member here, noob, newbie whatever. I have really learned a lot reading the posts on this forum for the last three months or so. Thanks!!

I have had a G17 for year or so. before that i had a 30.30 Marlin as my defense weapon. i live in a safe area(for now). Basically my G17 is turned into my go-to weapon 17rds (corbon 115 +p JHP's) X2 backup mags loaded with same.

I plan to apply for a CHL (Texas). I will most likely get a G27 to carry.
I have shot G27 several times and I like it.

here's the questions,
looking at holters, ctac-mtac look good. Can you switch out a section and convert it from a g17 to a g27 without buying a complete new holster.
Once I get the G27, is there any reason I would ever want to carry the G17?

At home, I just bought a Rem 870 12g for home defense and shooting skeet.
2 different barrels. Unless I extend the magazine I only have 4 rounds in the shotgun vs 17 rds in the glock 17.

Big question is what do I grab, Even if i chamber the 870 I only have five rounds of 00Buck (still like my Glock)
Behind the 30.30 and 870 is a AR-15 with ammo that will "reach out and touch someone" dont want to use that if I dont have to.

Bottom line Concealed Carry? G27 with C-Tac holster?
Homedefense: 12g 00buck 4-5rds vs G17 17rd mag JHP (bothare within equal reach) or AR-15.

If you get the MTAC, you can buy different kydex holsters for the different pistols you have. It is just a matter of removing the allen screws that are holding the original kydex holster and installing the new kydex holster on the MTAC.

I have my G19 next to my bed for home defense. If needed, the Mossberg 500 Persuader (8 +1 rounds) is only a few feet away loaded with alternating 1 oz. slugs and OO buckshot. Both firearms have a weapon light attached (SureFire is the only brand I use). The AR-15 I would be too wary to use in a HD situation as I don't want any collateral damage.

Not really. The 17 would be something you'd carry around the woods.

Those 4 rounds of of OO have more hole makers then the 17 rounds in a Glock.

If they have a knife, use the Glock. If they have a handgun, use the shotgun. If they have a shotgun, use the AR. And if their behind heavy brush/cover, use the lever.

Actually the AR-15 is a great choice for home defense. The .223/5.56 is less likely to penetrate as much building material as either the 9mm or 00 buck.

IMO,a handgun is only used to get me to a bigger gun.

Shotgun (or your AR) over a handgun for home defense.

I carry a G17 every day. You may want to carry yours and use your G27 as a BUG.

Many of the holsters for the smaller Glocks will still hold the larger models. The only difference is that the barrel/slide sticks out the bottom.

If you order the MTAC Slide for the Glock it will fit all the 9/40/357 calibers. Like was said before the barrel will extend thru the bottom on the longer Glocks. So the same holster will work with your 17 and soon to be 27 and the 26, 19, 23 you will be buying before long as well.
