Picked up my glock 19 today, first handgun/firearm purchased. Shot 100 rounds at the range, complete newbie. I cleaned it with CLP when I got home with qtips, etc being careful. I did have a few questions.

Is there anywhere I can't use the clp? Be careful not to get any here, etc.. Is the CLP sufficient for lube also? I would assume so being C L!! P.. I didn't know if I can leave a little CLP on anything aluminum/metal on the gun.

I'm considering getting my CCW, but let's face it, i'm a big guy, what holster typically fit a larger guy for CCW? I'm thinking inside the waist band probably isn't an option, what other options would work?

Thanks for all the help, the advice has been great here.

I would try to keep CLP away from the firing pin. I would check out youtube. There are several good videos that show you how to clean a Glock.

Also I wouldn't rule out the IWB. Many carry a Crossbreed Supertuck. It is versatile and very comfortable.

Here is a big guy that carrys the Supertuck and it seems to work well for him.

I use the CLP. Just follow the instructions in that manual you got with the G19. A drop here, here, here, etc.
I use IWB holster so nothing to help you with on that subject.

Get a tub of CLP. Each time you're done with the weapon, dissemble, soak, and reassemble.

Mobil 1 15w50 or 20w50 for lube, after you clean it with Hoppes Elite (no smell) cleaner.

Take a good look at the Galco MX4 holster, I can't stand IWB carry so I went with OWB. I've got one of these holsters and love it. Very lightweight, good weight distribution and great retention, keeps the gun in close to your body, very easy to draw from and really not that expensive.

The manual gives good instruction on lube. I use Ballistol as a CLP and it works great for me.

For holsters, have a look at the open top / 'Cuda from Simply Rugged:

Congrats on the G19!! I really like mine alot.

I carry mine in an iwb with out a issue and I am a big guy 6'4" 350. With my G19 I use either a Galco kydex or a Bianci pro I believe it is and both work just fine. Thing I found is if the holster does not have a sweat guard it may bother you. Hope this helps.

I'm thinking that we new Glock 19 owners are going to have to build our own little clubhouse.

    Congrats!!!!:wavey:

new G19 owner myself, its as near perfection in CCW as I can imagine.
Try uncle mikes iwb, cheap but I always find myself going back to em. Supertuck is good as well.. for true CCW, I lean IWB over OWB.

    ha, a club house....?

    Try a fortress, of lead....

Follow the manual on lubrication and use any good firearms lube/cleaner. Glocks run well almost dry and stay cleaner.

I couldn't agree more. I have owned the G17, 23, 21sf and the G19 is the one left still standing. I liked them all but like you said, it is all I need. I traded the 17 for a Micro Eagle .380 for pocket carry. This is the first time I have just had one Glock since I bought my first (G19 about 3 years ago). To me the G19 is the all-purpose Glock.
