Shoot the same ammunition in both pistols, 180gr. HST or Gold Dot are excellent choices. Using the same type ammunition the 155gr. will have more felt recoil than the 180gr.

Congrats on the new purchase. I have a Gen4 23 and Gen4 27. I got rid of my 17 way back in the 90's because it just didn't feel good in my hand. I picked up the Gen4 and bought both. After about 2000 rounds each, I have to say there have been no issues with ANYTHING I've fed them.

I started with the 155s and eventually worked my way to the 180s. I've found better accuracy and recoil with those in both guns. I have, however, purchased a G33 barrel for my G27, and I have to say I like it a lot. Wicked accuracy!

Try to search the GATE Self Defense forum by Mas Ayoob for Gold Dot and/or G 27 Ammo, but I think he has advised to go with a more moderate weight .40 like 165 or 155 grain.

I have found that HP's from my G27 do not expand (in water) like they did in my old G22, probably due to slower velocity from the shorter barrel.

    YMMV.

I carry 155g gold dots in my G27, recoil isn't that bad for me, but you should try a few to see if they work for you.

Best advice is to try out a few different types (maker and grain) to find the one or two that you are the most comfortable with. The question is what do "you" shoot the tightest groups with.

I use American Eagle 180gr for target and Golden Saber 180gr for carry. I'm still waiting for a chance to try Critical Duty, so there may be a change soon**fingers crossed**.
