new glock 26, question about something that looks odd in the receiver

this is a NIB glock 26 i purchased today-

in the receiver, right in front of the slide lock lever...

i see a thin metal "U" that starts halfway up the plastic block holding one front metal slide tab...and the thin metal loop then goes down, across the bottom and then up the plastic block holding the opposite side metal slide tab, but is not nearly as visible. the plastic molding around it is not consistent and the loop is exposed in a very uneven manner.

so, i'm curious...is this metal even supposed to be exposed? it's not on my 21, but you can sort-of see where it would be as it's got some contrasting plastic raised a bit on the mold. i know the 21 is alot different than the 26 for obvious reasons.

sorry for big and unfocused pics but it's late ; )
the last pic is of my 21 receiver

my 21 for comparison

thanks

Just pull it out.
oh, i forgot to ask - if someone has a 26 and would compare this molded in 'loop', i would greatly appreciate it!

thanks.
Looking at my G26 (made March 2009, 2000+ rounds). The right side of the "U" is exposed, the left side of the "U" is partially hidden. I don't think it's something to worry about, just a "Glock imperfection" in the plastic mold.

oh, so it's just like mine then ; )

hey, i really appreciate you checking and calming me a bit, hehe.

i don't have that much experience with polymer receivers so im not sure what's normal and what isn't.

thanks a ton!
You're welcome.

Now go to the nearest range and shoot a few boxes of ammo so your G26 won't be "new" anymore.
Yeah, you gotta get the new outta that thing! Congrats!
I know you already got your answer, but I'll give you a little bit more piece of mind. Mine is also exposed (G26 Generation 2.5)
G26 Gen. 3 here... looks the same.

I love this little pistol!
Looks like a major defect. I'll give you $50 for it!
I have the same thing with my new 26.
A good friend of mine (a bit of a wacko) says it's a GPS tracking antenna and all new guns are going to have them.

Shoot that thing and post some pics of your targets,,,,,,,,,,,,:faint:
Perfectly normal, go and shoot the G26!
