Hey all, new to the forum, just got my wife her first firearm, a 19C. I looked around a bit, but didn't see a n00b section to post up and introduce myself. Does such a place exist?

Don't know much about glocks (Beretta M9 veteran) so I'm searching the heck out of this site, so I'll be seeing you around!

Thanks for the welcome Drew! Let's see.... I'm in NoVA, or the NCR, or DC... I'm sure there's a few acronyms/names I'm missing depending on who I'm talking to! I'm living in Gainesville, VA. Just PCS'd here from Offutt AFB, Bellevue, NE. I'm working a few miles from the NRA HQ, so I'm sure the benifits of that will show very soon!

Yep, of all the Glocks a 19 is one of the best simply for its reliability. The 19C should be pretty nice esp for a woman. I wish I would have gotten the 32C (for looks :) ) .

Not too much to know about it. Point and shoot. Clean it later if you have time. I havent seen anyone with any real issues on here...

Some have question the 9mm round in that length barrel as far as accuracy goes however I've seen a guy online shoot at 100-200 yards with a G19 and hit steel targets (hickok45). It was a big target but regardless that should put that debate to rest...

Anything in particular you are wanting to know about it?

Welcome! There are only a couple things one needs to know about Glocks. Don't shoot unjacketed lead in the factory barrel. The factory barrel uses polygonal rifling which doesn't mix well with unjacketed lead. Also, don't get oil, solvent, other liquids, or foreign debris into the firing pin channel or other internals of the slide.

Other than that, have fun at the range!

Welcome to GT and congrats on the 19C!

Were you specifically looking for a "C" model for your wife? Was it hard to locate the compensated version? The shops I've been in recently have only had a single compensated Glock, a 24C.

    Hello again crazyasian1,

NoVA is a good place to land, if you're a gun owner. :)

I have a few Glocks, and the G19C is one of the most fun to shoot.

See you around! (on the forums, not NoVA!)

welcome to the addiction of Glock my fellow asian! My Glock 19 from 1998 is still running strong. Have had serious though about getting a new gen 19 for the rail, but since I just bought a 33, I will have to wait.

Congrats John.... What does your trigger look like ???? Is it serrated or smooth if ya don`t mind me askin.... I have 2 19 and they are different both are GEN 3 but one of my triggers has the serrations and the other is smooth... I wonder how many Glock sent out with the serrated triggers???

The answer: Unlikely that it left Glock Inc with a "smooth" trigger. It takes about 1 minute to change the trigger (30 seconds to find the punch down tool, 10 seconds to verify the gun is unloaded ;))... :)
