Thanks to alot of information garnered on this forum, I am the proud new owner of a Gen4 Glock 17. This is my first Glock and the first full size that feels good in my hand, I have not added any backstraps. I bought this with the intention of shooting a couple of GSSF and IDPA matches this summer, Ed's Public Safety could not have made this any easier. I ordered over the phone at 5:00 pm on a Thursday, signed up for GSSF, got the instant certificate and had a $398.20 Gen4 at my FFL in Illinois the next day. I took it to the range 3 days later and I have to say I really like this gun. Years ago I shot USPSA with a Kimber Classic gold match, the Glock is a completely different animal yet still a pleasure to shoot, no problems through the first 100 rds, I plan on shooting this gun often. Coming from a 2# trigger, I have already ordered a 3.5# connector and done a .25 cent trigger job-I just want something a little lighter than the stock pull now. So I guess what I'm saying is "thanks" to this forum and it's members for providing a little guidance, I have officially stopped lurking.

Congrats on the new 17. Great pistol. You'll really enjoy it.
One of my Glocks is a 17 and I love it.
If I had to personally recommend a first pistol for a new
Glock owner, it would be a 17 or 19. Just my opinion.
Cheaper ammo, good firepower, lot's of choices in ammo,
and easy recoil. Just my 2 cents again.

Don't be a stranger to the forum. Lot's of great guy's and
    information here, keep Lurking.
I'm like an old catfish, I cruise here all the time.

Congrats again, good luck and good shooting.
