The article says the new guns will have a "reinforced forward notch for the recoil spring assembly".

I wonder how many of the Gen 4 guns have had that part break?
It's an awfully thin silver of metal supporting the front of the recoil spring.

From the article that is of importance,

December of last year Glock, Inc. started the trademark registration process of the the GEN 5 name.
That article is from September 2016, so Glock trademarked GEN5 in 2015.

This is old and very stale non-news that doesn't merit a thread title in all caps and an exclamation mark. In fact, this thread has no merit at all. :)

Do a little web research to find info that is far more recent.

It's definitely appropriate for the new M models, whose slides were flying off the frame even before the first issue to the first department had been completed. :)

I'll buy more, but they'll be Gen 3.

    It's the damned Russians again.

I heard Putin doesn't like Glocks.

I'll gladly spend more than I earn in a month if they make it out of porcelain.

The finish on my new Gen 5 Glock 19 sucks. I've been carrying it since December of the year before last, and it looks worse than the Gen 4 I carried since 2011.

Did they change the Tenifer finish due to the EPA, or is "O" really not a number?

At some point there will be Gen 5, unless Glock goes out of business. Doesn't mean it is imminent.

You've been carrying a Gen 5 G19 for over a year? That's definitely big news.

And it's an old article that started the thread. The big news is that it's all hubbub.

Of course there will be a Gen 5...

...eventually, but filing for a copyright 18 months ago does not mean a Gen 5 is coming next week.

Just purchased my first Glock, it was a gen4 17. I also have several M&Ps. I don't feel thr Glock has any advantage over the M&Ps. I enjoy shooting both. I have not had the opportunity to use the Glock in competition yet, that will be coming soon. I have fired thousands of rounds through the M&Ps without any problems at all. I see no reason why the Glock 17 won't do the same. The only improvement I plan on making to the Glock is re-working the trigger to reduce the pull to about 4 lbs or less.
