First handgun and I love it. First 300 rounds in and I am already thinking about what is my next Glock. Any upgrades I should be looking into? Thanks

Welcome and great choice. You know that gun is just the first of many. Its an addiction! I like anything cheap for the range but my SD round of choice is Winchester Ranger T +P:supergrin:

Ammo recs would be whatever is cheapest for the range, Speer 230gr GDHP for defense.

    Upgrades!? Upgrades for a Gen4 Glock 21 45ACP??

    That's not possible!

Congratulations on a spectacular choice for your first handgun.

To upgrade your fun at the range, I suggest one or more of these:

    KRISS Vector MagEx 30-rnd

    and definitely one of these:

    UpLULA Magazine Loader

For self-defense ammo, any of the following three JHP rounds are an excellent choice in 45ACP:
    • Winchester Ranger-T 230gr JHP
    • Speer Gold Dot 230gr JHP
    • Federal HST 230gr JHP
I'm not particularly a fan of +P loads for the Glock 45ACP, especially not with a 4.61" barrel and one of the three high-tech rounds noted above. I strongly recommend a 230gr bullet in 45ACP.

    Enjoy shooting your Gen4 G21!

Congrats on the new G21! I'd recommend leaving it stock until you are familiar with how it shoots. You'll be able to make better decisions on what you like/don't like.

Speer Gold Dot and Hornady Critical Defense are excellent SD ammo choices.

I have the same gun, I put Ameriglo night sights on it. Run Speer Gold Dot 230 Grain for home defense and for everyday shooting I run whatever is cheapest at Walmart. I also bought a dry box with reusable silica packets and store all my ammo in there.

Some things are just fine the way they are. I'd say a brand new Glock 21 is as close to perfect as you can get. I have a Gen 3 Glock 23 that is awesome, but my next purchase will be a Glock 30 (45 ACP Sub Compact....recoil exactly the same as a Glock 21....best Glock I've shot yet).

Speer Gold Dots, Hornady Critical Defense or Corbon DPX for SD ammo....

What's the recoil like compared to a 1911?

Well the only 1911 I have ever shot was a Colt Defender (a few weeks ago actually), that had alot of work done to it. I know several of the key components (that's about as specific as I can get lol), were upgraded. Now that gun was one of, if not THE smoothest shooting gun I've ever shot. I ***** you not when I say I put 7 bullets through dang near the same hole.

I'd say the smootheness of shooting that 1911 was noticeably better than that of the Glock 30 (incidentally, that I shot about 10 minutes before shooting the 1911), but when it comes down to it, if I were dropped into a chaotic situation, and I had to choose between a Glock 30 (or 21) and a 1911, I'd go with the Glock.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE 1911's, and definitely have at least one on my "to buy" list, but the reliability and simplicity of Glocks is one of the things that draws me to them the most.

I like some 1911s, but I doubt I'll ever own one. My 2 glocks are probably the only two ill ever need.

Issues with my G21 kicking shells back at my face. Went and shot 100 rds today and had at least 8 hit my face and several more land on my arms. One even made it down my shirt. Felt a little warm. Any suggestions? Help/ideas? Thanks
