i have received my perdiem from TDY at fort lewis WA this past summer FINALLY and i am thinking about getting a new G19. do the new G19s have the same new frame and grips as the .40's i have seen in the new Glock magazine? Should I go with a G19? I love the 9mm and what i qualify on in the Army so i think i am going to stay with the 9x19. if only i could take this with me to Afghanistan later this year. Who is pleased with their G19?

You can't go wrong with a 19 or 23-Glock's best in my opinion

Go for it. You'll hear nothing but good things about the G19 on here.

    I had a G23 gen 3, sold it...
    went to a XD-45 4", sold it.

got a G36, great gun... been my EDC for some time, but..... I saw a G19 gen 2 at a shop, and couldn't let it go....

its a shooter, kinda the main reason I didnt care much for my G23, but maybe I just got a accuracy lemon.
And the extra 3 rounds gives a little piece of mind... not going to start a caliber war, but... with todays modern ammo, 115+P+, 124+P, 147HST...ect ; your really splitting hairs...:dunno:

I was shooting my G19 in wa today...:wavey:
    testing out some doubletap-like reloads....
    115gr @ 1300fps+, "ok...I like."
90gr gold dot @ 1500+fps, "damn, :wow:" got a little wet on that one.

If you were soo inclined, and this is the way I'd do it.... Get a G23, and a 9mm-40 conversion barrel, and while your at it a 357 sig. barrel... then your covered for when the SHTF.... you might have to get 40 and 9mm mags , but I have heard that 9mm function fine in the 40 mags, I might not be one to trust my life on it until fully tested.

    I had a 26, 19 & 17. Still have the 19 and 17 but the 26 went bye bye. Love the 19. I had an H&K USP 45 and a Glock G21, still have the 21 and the H&K went good bye.

i have never heard a single thing bad about the G19. i have heard some people ***** about other glock models (very scarce but nevertheless, they've *****ed) but nowhere near how much i have heard bad things about other companies.. I have a 26 and love it. i just think that the 19 will serve me better and 15 rounds of 9mm is nice. thanks for the responses men.

Sounds like you are talking about the gen 4 guns. Yes, the gen 4 G19 will have features similar to the gen 4 G22 guns that are already available. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the G19 will be available as a gen 4 model until sometime this summer (2010).

19's are great, I've had 3 and I've never been disappointed with any of them. Great size for a great caliber.

I'd get a current generation G19 rather than the new design. The G19 in its current incarnation is as close to "perfection" as it comes. I have 2, one for EDC and its twin for IDPA and practice. Let the new modifications have some time to prove themselves on someone else's dime.

Just can't go wrong with the G19. It is the best all around Glock. Also one of the best for CCW use, although I recently switched to the G27 because of the smaller size.

The 19 gets lonely sometimes so I carry it a couple of times weekly.

goal here was to come close to a 357mag/sig 125 gr load,

6.9gr VV 3n37 - 115gr - est -1300fps+... worked well with golddots or XTP's, xtps had one core sep, other was close... but lots of fragmentation. gold dot were typical 100% and about dime size exp.
this load also worked well with a 80 gr barnes XPB....

90 gr's had a bit more pop to em, I got dooshed... and the gold dot held up quite well. I like that load better for some reason... kind of a controlled frag round, the petals (6) of the gold dot, peeled off as shrapnel, the core flattened to about 90% of the size of the expanded 115 gr's.
Think of corbons 90gr +p, but bonded....
need to test on game. :whistling:

7.3 gr of same power, for the 90gr
    (loads listed are book MAX)
