Good start! Check out Shield Arms 15rd mags for the Glock 43x/48.

Thanks, it's already in my Shopping Cart! I've been reading about how they chew up the stock mag release, and even many aluminum releases (and how aluminum releases chew up the stock magazines), so I'm waiting to get more familiar with the stock setup before modifying anything. Again, this is all new to me, so I figure I want to establish a stock "baseline" before tweaking it.

Shield mags will eat up the plastic release if you shoot much. I haven’t tried the shield mags with the OEM catch but I’d be surprised if it lasted more than 10 mags. I have 800 rounds and haven’t had an issue with the catch or mags but others have. I’ve yet to have a single issue. Shield is coming out with a steel catch soon so hopefully that fixes the issue for those that have had some trouble.

Yes, I saw that...but I suspect the steel catch will eat up the stock mags (?) which I guess doesn't REALLY matter if you're running all SA mags!

I honestly don’t know. Maybe I’ll run 10 mags of the stock mags this weekend and see if any real wear happens. It might mess up that coating but there is metal under that so I am just going to guess that any damage would be mostly cosmetic to the mag but I could be wrong. No basis for that just a guess.

Again, I know nothing, but from what I've read, plastic to plastic (stock) is ok, metal to metal (steel) is ok, but mixing and matching will cause wear on the plastic parts. It makes sense....

I have heard the plastic-plastic, metal-metal on here too and I think that is sound advice. But I was just thinking about the fact the Glock mags are metal covered in plastic. Maybe if the plastic was worn down to the metal the mag would no longer work as designed or if it would be fine. I don’t know that answer. I do know it will wear the plastic but don’t know if the function of the gun would be effected.
