    Good afternoon all,

I work for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). An email just came out at work announcing that Glock was awarded the contract to supply CBP with new 9mm handguns. A model was not specified. The rumors that were going around were that it was basically between Glock and the Sig P320.

I'm going to guess the G45, though it might be the 19 given that they are coming from the P2000.

    Another loss for the .40

I run into CBP folks all the time as I enter and exit Mexico here in southern AZ (dentist mostly). I suspect the "new" pistol will simply be the next generation Glock service size handgun, either 19s or 17s.

In truth, I avoid looking at agents firearms when I'm near them. Don't want anyone to misunderstand my otherwise noble intentions!

Is this contract CPB only, or does it include HSI? I was talking to an agent last week who said they were getting a new "modular" pistol. She did not know the make or model, but I assumed the new Sig 320, which I recall being described as "modular" in an article about the Army purchase.

The specific pistol isn't announced yet but is rumored to be the G47. A new model that's not commercially available.

It is a Gen 5 19X frame (17 frame with a 19 dust cover) and a 17 slide with MOS plate and front cocking serrations.

I don’t know if this is humor/satire or not. It could make sense from a standardization standpoint. Give a G17 slide a little overhang thingey on the bottom (think G34, G17L, G48) so that G45 and G17 use the same lowers. Seems like it would be extra machining to answer a question nobody asked. But it is conceivable.

Not yet that I know of. I assume it will be commercially available soon depending on how quickly Glock can fill the CBP order(s).

    Isn't this basically a Gen 5 17? I don't get the point.

The part of the frame forward of the trigger. Have no idea why it's called that.

This is getting a bit silly. At this point Glock needs to just adopt a modular system and sell grip frames and slides a la carte.
