I found these gun cases on a popular bidding site while looking for something to take the 500 to the range. They're 18" x 9.5" made of aluminum and plastic. Sturdy enough for transport but I sure wouldn't put it through a torture test.

They have the typical egg shell foam but it wasn't thick enough to really hold the guns solidly so I bought a roll of one inch "project foam" from Wally mart and put that under the bottom foam for a better firmer fit.

They were only around $18 each so I thought why not? With the added foam they're more than serviceable with combination locks but any screwdriver would probably pop them right open.

Those look great. Every time I get a "briefcase" type thing going I pack up for the range, and by time I get to the shooting bench I'm regretting carrying them.

I always end up back to a wheeled cart solution.

I can never just take ONE gun, ONE set of eyes/ears, no more than TWO magazines, and 100 rounds of ammo. So such a case never works out.
