Bigger , beefed up .40 cal frame (what's not to like ?) ... Doubtful Glock will ever release it commercially - however it could make for an improvement to the existing .40 cal Glock line up !

    Not saying you are wrong.....

    Source..... details.... photos.... description?????

That is a very big statement to simply "toss out there".

I'm sure he's referring to the 40K Gen 5 G22's shipped last year. Be interesting to see it released to the public.

    To focus my question.....

Any info on the "beefed up frame"?

Decreasing weight on the 30s and 41s makes sense for this low pressure round.

Increasing size and weight in the slide and barrel in the Brazilian 22 suggests a finality of correcting an Engineering error from long ago. If the Gen5 22 emulates the 10mm in size......well that leads me to a conclusion of choice in the 10mm.

At present speculation, the grip safety and ambi slide release are alone additions that are not warranted nor willingly accepted in future procurement.

So far I see nothing desirable.

If they start selling a Brazilian G23 in the US, you can sign me up.

It wasn't the frame that was allegedly "beefed up" the slide was apparently made to be thicker/heavier. Think G37ish.

I don’t see it coming any time soon. Glock has jumped on the 9mm bandwagon for good reason. Tests show it is the superior round when everything is considered from ballistics to ease of operation. 9mm is selling well and Glock will probably continue to move that route.

Wait and see. Guns and chambering are fads. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of the .40 by any stretch of the imagination.

    The Brazilians don’t agree...
They shoot a lot of people, and they’ve used 9mm plenty...

I’m not saying .40 doesn’t work. I use it every day at work. I just don’t believe it’s the best when everything is considered. The recoil and pressure of the round isn’t worth its ballistic performance compared to 9mm. The vast majority of people in LE and people in general can put more rounds accurately on target faster with 9mm and the ballistics are very similar. Again, .40 will work, don’t get me wrong. I just think 9mm is more user friendly for most individuals.

That's what people don't seem to get.

I'll say it louder for those in the back, NOBODY is saying .40 is ineffective. 9mm just does the same thing:

    1.) Cheaper
    2.) Easier

Go start a new thread if you want to argue terminal ballistics. This is quickly going to derail.

And what you’re showing is expansion, which is only one part of the huge equation. Those really aren’t that different when actually measured. And obviously .40 is bigger, but what it does to the human body isn’t all that different. And you’re sacrificing efficiency as a shooter.

And as TacticalDesire states, I’m really not here to argue ballistics. There are people on both sides of the fence. I was just pointing out why Glock is favoring 9mm and why it’s a smart move on their part.

No thanks. I own a .380 also. Not dogging 9mm. Just showing differences do exist.
