Well, since my brand new S&W 325 Night Guard literally LOCKED UP on me during dry-fire, after 50 rounds at the range, I took it back to the dealer, and got things fixed. While I'm sure S&W would have made it right, I would NEVER trust that gun to do anything other than be a range toy. So, the dealer took it back, gave me this brand new Rock Island Armory M1911-A1 Tactical, and cash to make things square. He even threw in a few Wilson Combat 47D's as well.

This is my first 1911, but I've detail striped and field striped them before, so I have an idea of what I'm doing. I will say that the first thing I noticed is how tight the gun is out of the box. Very good for the price. The trigger is pretty darn nice as well. Looking into the chamber, the feed ramp and throat are polished from the factory, which is a plus. Overall, I'm very happy with my first 1911, and can't wait to shoot it! I heard great things about RIA 1911s; hopefully mine won't be any different.

You need to hunt yourself up a 625 instead of that newfangled 325. Then and only then will you know .45Auto nirvana.

nice gun, so much for the myth revolvers never jam

i hope your 1911 experience went better than mine last weekend, i rented a Springfield Trophy Match and had Failure to Feeds three times out of a box of 100. the gun counter guys told me it was likely the stock Springfield magazines and Wilson brand was the way to go

when the pistol did work it was on the same level as the HK Mk 23 i had that day

Where is this shop? I might be interested in that 325. It is one of the ones I don't own. I would just remove the lock so it's not a concern.

The RIA's are good guns. In that price range they blow the Taurus away. Good choice.

As for the 325, I will say this; It was a beautiful gun, but the recoil was more than my snubby Ruger SP101 I was shooting that day.

Yea, I've heard Wilson 47D's are the only way to go with 1911s. My dad has a Springfield Loaded 1911, and it was a jam-o-matic with the crappy mags it came with. Swapped them out with Wilson 47D's, and it was fixed.

Enough to where I had to fill out an ATF Inquiry Form. :whistling:

Had a lot of moolah saved from last deployment. Getting ready to deploy again, so I figured I'd snatch up a few guns that I wanted before I deployed, and Comrade President and Pelosi decided to jump on guns. Who knows with the way things are these days. :dunno:

I think he means S&W's trigger lock engaged itself during firing.

it wasn't even during firing, it was during dryfiring and it wasn't even past the 50rd mark !
