We aren't just going to settle for producing another M4 carbine, we are striving to build a rifle that is more combat reliable and durable. The mid gas system allows more time for the pressure in the chamber to lower making extraction easier, easier extraction means less stress on the bolt, carrier and extractor. The extractor may be the single most broken part, if the extractor breaks the rifle stops running. The mid length gas system also softens the recoil impulse felt by the operator. We are using a heavier profile barrel similar to the mil replacement of the M4 barrel, the nitro-carburized surfaces are more corrosion resistant than chrome and since it is not a coating it does not reduce accuracy like a chrome lining can. This chart shows the QPQ/Melonite is superior to chrome or nickle coated for corrosion resistance. We also designed our own low land to groove ratio hybrid 5 groove rifling just like in our 6.8s to maximize the bore area and used a 1:8" twist ratio to handle all but the heaviest 90gr bullets. The narrow lands in our barrels deform the bullets less which leads to greater accuracy. We designed all of our bolts to increase the strength in the weakest areas, the lugs and the cam pin area.
